KIA counts don’t happen in a vaccum
Many of the news organizations directly reporting in and on Iraq have a fixation on death tolls. These are generally reported without significant context. Here’s some:
More troops, less death. (Bruce Rolston via Instapundit)
It is important to note that if troop numbers are boosted, and the militias are aggressively engaged, there will be more American dead. This is what happens when you prosecute a war with a view to win. When you have successfully located and engaged your enemy. If you hope to destroy him and prevail.

Because of the ever-present (and basically stupid) chickenhawk argument, I have to check myself every time there’s a more aggressive development in our prosecution of the war (Iraq, and the greater war with primitivism). Do I really want to cheer on more death? Then the angel on my other shoulder tells me about all the deaths in countless numbers that will follow if the war is not won.
So I’m glad somebody has done some common sense research and is putting the figures out there.
