A Numbers Game
Because that’s what this is all about, right? The Associated Press weighs Sept. 11 dead against Iraq dead.
The Democratic Daily likes a good numbers game.
The Horse’s Mouth sounds more like the other end.
Blonde Sense doesn’t have much.
Macsmind is disgusted and calls AP scribbler Torchias “a DNC op.”
LGF calls it one of the AP’s “most vile” bits of work yet.

Here’s a number for those who like numbers games: Iraqi Appeals Court says Saddam can dangle in the next 30 days. That will be one less Saddam than was tormenting and murdering Iraqis for the past 35 years. That will be one less Saddam than executed 148 men and boys from Dujail. That will be one less Saddam than gassed Halabja. That will be one less Saddam than invaded Kuwait, raping and murdering by the thousands. That will be one less Saddam than let his people live in abject poverty and deprivation while he built palaces. That will be one less Saddam than bought off the United Nations and France in a cynical blood for oil deal. That will also be one less Saddam than we had on Sept. 11, 2001.

All-Spin Zone earns his monniker with this bizarre statement:
“Listen, I’m not crying any tears for Saddam. I’ve said on many occasions that he’s a bad guy. But we’ve got our own bad guys on this side of the Atlantic ocean, and some of them are responsible for more murder and death than Saddam ever dreamed of committing.
My own opinion? Let Saddam rot. I’m not in favor of capitol punishment, anyway, so it would be duplicitous on my part to gleefully say, “Let the bastard swing!”. A more deserving punishment for Saddam would be to spend the rest of his life in solitary somewhere in the vicinity of The Hauge; sharing a dark, damp cell and a single, crusty, stainless steel toilet with some other high profile war criminals.”
All Spin is apparently unaware that “the Hauge” doesn’t have dark, damp cells with single, crusty despite being stainless steel toilets. Nor does it have any high-profile war criminals. The one they had dragged out his trial with Saddam-like antics for so long that he croaked in his sleep before anyone could spy a verdict on the horizon.
But I need to know: Who are the bad guys on this side of the Atlantic Ocean who are responsible for more murder and death than Saddam ever dreamed of?
Chimpy McBushitlerburton, I presume. But in this fantasy, it could be the Governator for all I know. Maybe Rambo. He killed lots of people.

I’m with LGF on this.
And isn’t it ironic that after the media line has been that non-existent links to 9-11 were used to justify attacking Iraq (they weren’t used), the media turns around and links 9-11 deaths with the death toll in Iraq…
Actually, “irony” doesn’t even BEGIN to cover it!

Wasn’t it also the lamestream media complaining about ‘body counts’ during Viet Nam? Now, they can’t wait to report daily on American losses without any mention of enemy losses.
We don’t have a news reporting industry today, we have an information manipulating industry.

The difference between the body counts of Vietnam and the body counts of Iraq is that the military in Vietnam was counting enemy bodies, and the Associated Press of Jihad is counting American bodies. Not that they particularly care about American bodies, mind you, beyond the propaganda value.

Curiously the media never whined too much over those big WWII body counts (like 12K @ Okinawa alone).
I wonder why that was? Now they flip over a few thousand over the span of several years when in the past they didn’t flinch over 12,000 in a matter of weeks.
Damn curious that. Damn curious.
