Peace How!

No wonder they haven’t been able to come up with a plan.  Their leader is a 12-year-old girl:

At the rally, 12-year-old Moriah Arnold stood on her toes to reach the microphone and tell the crowd: “Now we know our leaders either lied to us or hid the truth. Because of our actions, the rest of the world sees us as a bully and a liar.”

Also, a wealthy dowager reliving her girlish youth, undermining American troops in the field again.

“Silence is no longer an option,” Fonda said to cheers from the stage on the National Mall.

Yes it is!

Hey, look who else showed up:

“Peace is controversial,” civil rights and community activist Jesse Jackson, 65, said in a rousing address to the crowd gathered at the east end of the Mall. “But so is war. The fruit of peace is so much sweeter.”

Hard to tell from that description, but if that’s the “community activist” I think it is, the “community” in which Marblemouth is active is Libya and various other third-world despotia, plus name your domestic lefty photo op.

Everyone is eager to recapture the experience of the 1960s.  Big difference.  Every American who is in Iraq today, with the exception of a few malcontents who weren’t clear on what signing on the dotted line was about, is there by choice and most of them want to fight and win.  Protest chic falls a little flat, when most of the people doing it don’t actually believe they have anything at stake. Which is why the left is so eager to revive the draft.  Not to swell the ranks of the military.  To swell the ranks of the protestors.

You know the neocons are finished if Jane Fonda’s speaking in public again….

    Useful Idiots Gather in DC

They love the sound of their own voices. So do our enemies.

Ah. The wisdom of children who haven’t reached the age of reason, but merely parrot what they hear (sorta like someone we know). So what is Fonda’s excuse? Second childhood explains today, but doesn’t explain the rest of her life.

    Jane Fonda seeks exoneration,
    Forgiveness from her traitored nation.
What say you warriors fought that war?
Is forgiveness due that wartime whore?
So rich, so smart, she thought she knew
Much more than us, we bloodied few.
    So smug, self-serving, seeking fame,
The rich bitch played her seditious game.
A game that cost me many friends,
Many, thanks to Jane, came to bad ends.
I’ve borne scars forty years or more,
From lies laid on me by this whore.
Self-serving now she sells her tale,
This traitor who should be in jail.
Is it within our souls to grant her grace?
Our souls shout, “No… spit in her face!”

Jane Fonda the ” dowager”. That’s cold. It’s true and I like it, but it’s cold.

  7. Purple Avenger Says:

    Heh,

Pelosi plans on killing more people in one year than Bush ever did. Time to start the Pelosi Death Clock™ to track AIDS deaths in Africa that will be starting soon due to congressional democrat’s neglect.

  8. Cliff Clavin Says:

Ahhhh but you see Purple Avenger, that body count doesn’t matter to the Left. The proof, the mere pittance of money the shining start of the Left, that silver haired great orator Bill Clinton sent to assist AIDS victims in Africa. Now even though the hated Bush sent, what 3 or 4 times the amount of money, the Left is now delaying sending additional funds from what I understand and of course blaming that fact on Bush. John Kerry said so, so it must be true.

“When we walk away from global warming, Kyoto, when we are irresponsibly slow in moving toward AIDS in Africa, when we don’t advance and live up to our own rhetoric and standards, we set a terrible message of duplicity and hypocrisy,” Kerry said.

Truth is, the Left never did care about those people, hell it didn’t care about the mass graves, either….Starting with THE Stalins, Pol Pots, the DPRK, the Janjaweed, just to name a few. MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people. Oh my, I’ve omitted Hitler. He only purposely targeted 6 MILLION or so, JEWS. They don’t count or are small potatoes, just ask Jimmy Carter.

You see that KIND of thing only counts when a “neo-con” is around, not a Communist or the newly tabbed, “neo-com”.

    “So what is Fonda’s excuse?”

The only thing Fonda, the Jane variety that is, was good at was, her ‘faux’, yet real life performances, as Klute. But her mouth is still working as evidenced, yesterday.

  10. CavMedic Says:

From Steyn’s column column this morning: The only energy displayed by Nancy Pelosi was the spectacular leap to her feet within a nano-second of the president mentioning Darfur. Up went Madam Speaker and the entire Democratic caucus like enthusiastic loons on a gameshow. Darfur! We’re all in favor of Darfur. People are being murdered! Hundreds of thousands! We oughtta do something! Like, er, jump up and down when it’s mentioned in a speech. And, er, call for the international community to mobilize. Maybe one of those leathery old ’60s rockers could organize an all-star concert or something. If Darfur were indeed a game show, the Sudanese would quickly discover it’s one of those ones where you come on down to discover you’ve missed out on all the big prizes but you’re not going away empty-handed: No, sir, here’s your very own SAVE DARFUR! T-shirt autographed by Nancy Pelosi and George Clooney.

Darfur is an apt symbol of early 21st century liberalism: What matters is that you urge action rather than take any. On Iraq, meanwhile, the president declared: “Let us find our resolve, and turn events toward victory.” And the Dems sat on their hands.

Leftism is so much posture in any event-look at me, see what a good person I am. But actually doing something (beyond taking a nice walk on a Saturday and listening to a few garbled speeches by some pathetic aging 60s leftover asshats) requires a level of resolve beyond most leftoids.

Why even the (usually) moronic (present company excepted) MSM continues to pay attention to them is beyond understanding.

  11. CavMedic Says:

Hmm-I tried to italicize the Steyn quote, but it didn’t take (although the html for the link did). What’s up Jules? Worried about all the Blairites that post here stealing them to use on Tim’s blog?

  12. RebeccaH Says:

Sometimes I look at the TV news and think I’ve fallen into some kind of time warp. This is 2007, right? Not 1968?

  13. Jules Crittenden Says:

You give me way too much tech credit, CavMed. But I definitely don’t want to catch that nasty italics thing Blair has.

  14. saltydog Says:

CavMed, thanks for the link. Steyn said a lot more of importance than your quote. I recommend the read.

RebeccaH, unfortunately this isn’t a time warp, but the direct consequence of ‘68, and the succeeding years when the leaders of that movement went on to teach our children and govern our citizens. They didn’t just leave the South Vietnamese and Cambodean people disarmed and facing murderers, but set about to do the same stateside. The success of their efforts is frightening–and very dangerous.
