S’il Vous Plait

Quebecois village enacts “When in Rome” rules:

“We wish to inform these new arrivals that the way of life which they abandoned when they left their countries of origin cannot be recreated here,” said the declaration, which makes clear women are allowed to drive, vote, dance, write checks, dress how they want, work and own property.

“Therefore we consider it completely outside these norms to … kill women by stoning them in public, burning them alive, burning them with acid, circumcising them etc.”

Sounds reasonable.  I’d be inclined to add, “We also consider it outside these norms to abduct people, parade them on al Jazeera and cut their heads off,” seeing as some immigrants to western countries have considered importing that custom, too.

Haven’t yet heard from the QCLU, however, so I’m reserving judgment.  This may represent a serious infringement on the cultural expression and rights of various … medieval throwbacks and savages …  and it may be that we should try harder to be sensitive to their … barbaric folkways.

Reuters appears to suggest these expectations of guests in the small town of Herouxville may be racist, by launching into a discussion of racist sentiments in Quebec.  No discussion of whether any of the abovementioned prosecribed behavior may be morally reprehensible, however.

Nor any discussion of why some people might feel it necessary to underscore women’s right to freedom from … unspeakable brutality and oppression … when most of it is  already codified in Canadian law.

What a bunch of culturally intolerant jerks. What’s the world coming to when you can’t have a good public stoning?

ISLAM IS VERY DETERMINED TO CONQUER THE WEST

CHRISTIAN, JEWISH, HINDU, SIKH, BUDDHIST, ZOROASTRIAN, BAH’AI, AND UNITARIAN religions are constantly subject to criticism from inside and outside their faiths, but Muslims are not used to it. They must adapt, if they want to live in heterogeneous democratic societies.

Here is why they are having trouble. The following statements are based on clear historical facts, and I think they are critically relevant to the current war. Strangely, it begins with the question about the existence of Islam. It does not seem to really exist as a distinct theistic entity.

Until Mohamed, most Middle Eastern peoples worshipped multiple deities, with disagreement over who was the highest god, or “allah”. For at least 5000 years, the moon god was usually the “allah”. Mohamed adapted this by eliminating all gods but the moon god, named it Allah, and asserted himself as his messenger. To this day, Islam displays the half-moon on mosques, flags, and myriad other places. Mohammed’s religion is mainly a re-statement of bedouin culture. He said Islam descended from Judaism, and Christianity, and claimed these religions as a subset of Islam. In fact, a fair comparison of the values, directives, teachings, and goals of “Allah” (as interpreted by Mohammed and his bedouin disciples) seem to have very little to do with the God of the old and new testaments. The Koran mainly concerns rules of conduct in tribal life in war and peace, and the advocacy of hate, murder, and revenge, particularly regarding the subjugation and/or genocide of other cultures, especially Jews and Christians. The Golden Rule, the heart of most other important religions, is discarded in favour of hate and violence, yet Islam twists itself to claim to be a religion of peace.

Nevertheless, hate runs through Islam like a river. The more devout the Muslim, the more prone they are to advocate and believe in revenge, violence, and murder. Most Islamic terrorists are very devout, and most mosques and imams teach the hatred of Israel, Jews, and the value of violence (Jihad) as the centerpiece of life. Islam was spread almost entirely by war, and the current war is about Islamists’ efforts to impose bedouin culture on the West, even if it takes centuries.

SHOULD MUSLIMS maintain Islam as an export vehicle for bedouin hate and Jihad, or reform their religion so that it can adapt to the changes demanded by democratic society? Unless Islam changes itself, the fight will continue indefinitely.
