Not Moving On
It figures anything named Palestine would turn into a protracted, messy and ultimately stupid business.Â
Barcepundit reports that a Spanish judge wants to suspend Spain’s treaty of judicial assistance with the United States over the lack of US cooperation with three warrants issued for US soldiers over the Hotel Palestine incident, in which a Spanish and a Ukrainian journalist were killed in Baghdad on April 8, 2003.
Barcepundit’s post here. Jose figures it will haunt Spain, which has received assistance in its fight against ETA from the US. Except, as he noted, Spain doesn’t want to fight ETA anymore.
Here’s my most recent post on the Palestine incident, aspects of which I witnessed, with links. Quick version:Â
It was an accident, in combat. It happened to a lot of people. The soldiers for whom they issued warrants are good men, of good character and good intentions, who I trusted and would follow into combat any day.
If you want to go to war, like Jose Cuoso did, it’s part of the deal. You might get killed. Get over it.Â
The Spanish authorities seem to have a hard time figuring out who the enemy is. Al Qaeda, ETA, they cave for. Us, they get all paperwork and prosecutorial about.

Fine. Let them deal with ETA and Al Qaeda on their own. And let them beg and kiss our feet when they see they’re about to be overrun.

If I were a religious fanatic in a small house in dusty northwest Pakistan, I’d arrive at the conclusion that I need only strike each Western country but once. No more. No less. US. Spain. Britain. _________. __________. __________.
Then sit back, sip some tea, and watch them blame each other, ripping themselves to shreds with a self-loathing towards each other that is only rivaled by that which I hold for them myself.
If I were a murderous fanatic in Wild West Pakistan.

“Al Qaeta, ETA, they cave for. Us they get all paper work and prosecutorial about.”
They think that because there’s no danger of physical harm by the U.S., they’re safe shuffling papers and blowing hard. Stupid. Shortsighted. But then, that’s how the craven act–thoughtlessly.
aphie, I see you are disrespectful as well as simple-minded. “Reb” indeed. Ill-mannered bratlet.

Sadly, Rebecca, they’ll blame us for their situation.
And blame us for not rescuing them.

Well said alphie. Gosh, I wish I were a MENSA member, like you. Please do tell, how is it in the rarefied air of intellectual acuity?

Sir: By some strange chance I saw the video that day of the “incident” and I am amazed no one in the media noticed..(well, maybe not amazed by most of the media ignoring it)..the reporters were on a balcony..filming the Americans arriving and from beneath their perch I saw bullets..or shells..rising ..I suggest you take a look..there were people evidently crawling between the legs of the “Journalists”..judging by the way they were moving about. At the very least a band of Shooters were on the Balcony below them.. A closer look at that video would be worthwhile…at that moment, just before the Americans shot back I said to myself THOSE GUYS ARE SHOOTING AT OUR SOLDIERS…believe me I am not making this up ..it was So obvious what was going on. Thus the only real Question was were the Journalists placed their under duress? Were they willingly letting the “crawlers” shoot at Americans? You should recall that not long after that there were several fakes in the Hotel with Phony Press ID’s arrested …in the same hotel…one of them was attempting to blow up the building and another was running..Sadly, this film/video of the “Phony Press” was only shown a couple of times and then forgotten. In fact, no one paid much attention to it! Whether there were Shooters on or below the balcony..the Journalists left alive or viewing the video from that day and incident failed to investigate or notice the shells..which were flying up BEFORE we shot back!

Geez, I dunno, Alph. Maybe leftist and Islamic fascists in the form of ETA and Al Qaeda? Or didn’t you read Crittenden’s post at all.
