Totten on Lebanon, on Us, on Iran

Great insights, as always, from Michael Totten.  A lot of Lebanese want what they’ll never get: us back.  But the takedown of the Syrian and Iranian regimes on their own turf would accomplish in Lebanon what our presence there would not.  Also, Hezbollah isn’t as powerful as a lot of people think it is. And a lot more. It’s a ramble, but worth it.

Interesting point the Maronites make that they are not Arabs. Of course, they’re not, and neither are Egyptians, nor a whole host of other populations whom we typically think of as Arab. It illustrates the fact that Islam is simply codified Arab custom and language imposed on an entire region of the world.

RebeccaH, perhaps that is why Muslims insist that they constitute a race.
