Surge Now

Omar at Iraq the Model reports security operations have commenced in Baghdad. More US air patrols over the northern part of the city, and radio reports of joint US-Iraqi Army operations in Azamiyah.  Omar is happy. And yet, he reports:

Whether this is the start of Operation Baghdad or not, the operation is taking place without making any noise; in fact tonight is even quieter than the average Baghdad night!

Well, maybe that surge thing is working its magic already.  The link above is a specific ITM page.  I’d suggest staying tuned to Omar and Mohammed’s ears and eyes on the ground at the general link here.

Yahoo news has some details here.

By the way, something that bothers me a little about these anti-surge resolutions that aren’t being debated now, might be brought up in the House next week.  Has anyone told these people it’s already happening?  Their squawking at this point is irrelevant.  Simple political expediency, something they should be conversant in, says sit back and see what happens.  Then, decide whether to jump on the bandwagon or trash it.

I don’t know about you, but I expect a higher degree of cynical street smarts from my political whores.

It makes them look evern more out of touch than usual.

Of course Madame Hillary might really believe she is Jean Luc Picard of the Spaceship Enterprise and as such a simple and curt “Make it so” is all that is necessary to get her way…but I doubt that the military command in Baghdad or George Bush is going to wait with around for her order or the order of any other member of the Senate.
