Surge?

Omar at Iraq the Model reports a quiet first Surge day.  In contrast to the somewhat breathless AP reporting, which described new checkpoints all over the place; Iraqi cops shooting over drivers’ heads; APCs driving into oncoming traffic; helicopters, gunfire and sirens all day; and shuttered shops.  But Baghdad’s a big place.  None of it sounds like anyone getting down to business, however.
