Iran in Circles
Michael Ledeen of AEI, PJM fame has been in a spat with some Iranians. Everyone is making nice now, after their own fashion. Ledeen, who is against war with Iran, lays out why it is probably unavoidable:
… we’re the big kids on this block, our people love us, this regime won’t be brought down by sanctions or bombs, and you’d best come to terms with the regime if you want to maintain your status as a superpower … Why can’t we just work this out together?
The answer is simple enough. We can’t work this out because the Islamic Republic has declared war on us, not the other way around. Iranian agents and Iranian weapons are killing Americans.
Here’s the rest. Links to some great Iranofascist rhetoric.

The Iranians forgave us when our Navy shot down one of their airliners full of civilians.
And we did fund Saddam while he was gassing Iranians.
An we did overthrow their elected government and install our puppet king on their throne.
I’m sure we can work things out with them.

Which is why they’re killing our guys right? Their hearts are full of good will and bonhomie.

Nobody has offered up any proof that the Iranians are killing our soldiers, PA.
All we’ve seen is some rather questionable evidence that the Iranians are selling weapons, the same business many loyal Republican donors engage in.
I think the Republicans are really just trying to shake down the Iranians for some juicy campaign funds.

I’d say that you’re not paying attention, but after visiting your blog I think you’re just sticking your head in the sand. The Iranians are killing our soldiers, just as they have on and off for the past thirty years. And if you’re really upset about arms sales and not just repeating what the TV has told you to say, then perhaps you can spare a little righteous indignation for the Europeans who sold arms, ammo and spare parts to both sides in the Iran/Iraq war (among MANY others) and are now selling high-powered sniper rifles and nuclear power plants to Iran?
It’s a lot easier to just let your Dem masters tell you what to be upset about and dronishly repeat their arguments, isn’t it? Thinking is hard.

“The Iranians are killing our soldiers, just as they have on and off for the past thirty years. ”
You have no proof of this apart from the undocumented claims of Ledeen (or the Pentagon propaganda department).
He’s the same guy who announced Osama Bin Laden death at least 4 times and last month, he was saying that the Ayatollah was dead when we saw him on TV 2 weeks later. Or maybe he knows because Iranian are using the weapons sold to them in the Iran-Contra scandal (with the participation of people like Ledeen who was one of the intermediary) ? Ledeen has NO CREDIBILITY at all, he’s a fabricator / disinformation agent working for Israel.
That’s only pure propaganda to justify bombing another country. I’m sure you’ll find more Chinese components in IED than Iranian supplied material. They are using exactly the same strategy they used to justify invading Iraq. Just like Powell in front of the UN with his vials full of powder claiming that Iraq had full of WMD (that we never found, let me guess, they are in Syria or “Alloverstan” ?) or Bush claiming that Iraq could strike the US in 20 mins !?! in one of his speech. Now they are showing mortar shells in a PowerPoint presentation marked in English with the date in American order (month-year instead of the international convention of year-month).
The US has been at war with Iranian population since the 50’s. The last time you changed the regime there was to put in place the bloody tyrannical Shah regime instead of their elected government who had committed the mortal sin of nationalizing their oil. Since it’s more than 50 years ago, all the documentation of that nice operation is fully available, it was called “Operation AJAX”.
And after 26 years of the Shah regime FULLY ARMED AND SUPPORTED BY THE US, when the Iranian decide to liberate themselves and kick out their oppressor, THE US, they are now considered your enemies. and instead of being able to judge their dictator, the Shah, Carter allowed him to enter the US to get medical treatments and that’s what started the hostage crisis. It’s because of the oppressive regime of the Shah that the “islamofascist” gain traction and support among the population, they were LIBERATING them from a very oppressive regime… but sadly, it was only to impose another oppressive regime.
So. in order to fight the Iran after the 79 revolution, you decided to arm your good friend and ally in the region, SADDAM HUSSEIN to fight them. There was no problem in supplying your good friend Saddam with chemical and biological WMD, he was using them against the Iranian. And now you have the balls to say that it’s IRAN that has been at war with the US for 30 years ?
Go read a book on history, you might learn something…

Why do Iranian bombs have English labels?
Why does the Iranian TNT have markings in Farsi, while the other rounds seem to be labeled in English? Since Iran sells munitions on the international market, it makes more sense to use a language that is spoken far and wide. (You don’t have to use English, though; China and Russia sell arms marked with Chinese and Cyrillic characters.)

“Yet because of poor national controls and the absence of international standards on measures such as ammunition marking, record-keeping, and cooperation between states in tracing efforts, such ammunition is largely impossible to track.”

History has indeed made strange alliances.
No doubt, the future will bring even more strange alliances and there will be those that look back and fault those alliances.
In fact, there are two cases in point, right on this Blog. And all they will do is bitch about the woes caused, by the Americans, Australians, Brits and Canadians. Never the groups that caused those odd alliances. And they speak of “now you have the balls to say “……
snippets
“Lend-Lease was the most visible sign of wartime cooperation between the United States and the Soviet Union. About $11 billion in war material was sent to the Soviet Union under that program. Additional assistance came from U.S. Russian War Relief (a private, nonprofit organization) and the Red Cross. About seventy percent of the aid reached the Soviet Union via the Persian Gulf through Iran; the remainder went across the Pacific to Vladivostok and across the North Atlantic to Murmansk.”
“Lend-Lease helped the Soviet Union push the Germans out of its territory and Eastern Europe, thus accelerating the end of the war. With Stalin’s takeover of Eastern Europe, the wartime alliance ended, and the Cold War began.”

One can only hope that little trolls never have done, and never do, anything wrong in their entire lives–even in it seems to be in their best interest at the time, or was done because of an error in knowledge. It means that they will simply have to sit down and shut up about any injustice they take note of, whether in the world at large, or next door; whether the injustice is done to others or to themselves. According to their own statements, having once done wrong, one is disbarred from any further action against evil.
Thankfully, there are those in the world who have a sense of proportion and do not hold the world and the people in it in utter contempt, else the whole world would given over to evil.
