Original Sins, Fair Game
Newspapers and leftie blogs are abuzz with the warmed-over news from the 2002 Massachusetts gubernatorial election that Mitt Romney’s got polygamists up his Mormon family tree. Sweetness and Light notes a lack of interest in polygamy, and other stuff, up Barack Obama’s family tree. Wild guess here, but I’m going to take it: Republican, white, and Mormon. Fair game. The sins of the father should not be visited upon the son. But the great-grandfather, that’s another matter.
Last week the AP pulled a Bernie Shaw … “Governor, if Kitty Dukakis were raped and murdered, would you favor an irrevocable death penalty for the killer?” … and asked Romney why he opposes embryonic stem-cell research that might help cure his wife’s MS. Romney said politely he thought adult stem-cell also holds promise, rather than asking the reporter something like, “Do you have children? Why won’t you kill them to cure my wife?”
