    An excellent article, Jules. I am optimistic that we will survive this current crisis, but if not, western civilization surely has left a permanent mark on this tired old planet. Future generations can build on that.

    One point you made rang especially true for me–that if we fall, we deserve to do so. There is a certain justice in reality that cannot be thwarted. “Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed.” Man has a nature, just like every other entity in the universe. You cannot act against reality with impunity.
