Surrender With Credible Force vs. Threat of Violence
Obama tells a pro-Israel crowd he wants to pull out of Iraq but leave military force on the table as an option with Iran, while still supporting Israel.
This speech was linked in the Kharnival below, but this kind of shrewd strategy really deserves more attention. Here we go: Â
Speaking before a pro-Israel crowd at a downtown hotel, Obama also repeated his call for a phased pullout of U.S. troops from Iraq and strongly backed a strong U.S. relationship with Israel.
Obama said global leaders must do whatever it takes to stop Iran from enriching uranium and acquiring nuclear weapons. He called Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad “reckless, irresponsible and inattentive” to the day-to-day needs of the Iranian people.
The Iranian “regime is a threat to all of us,” Obama said.
While Obama wouldn’t rule out force, he said the United States should engage in “aggressive diplomacy combined with tough sanctions” to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear threat.
He also talks about how upset he was when he saw Hezbollah missile damage. Here’s another version of the same speech.
You might call this an amazing, steaming crockful, but I am intrigued by the novel juxtaposition of seemingly self-negating concepts. I need to hear more from this junior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. I am fascinated by his ideas and must know more about how a humiliating abandonment of Iraq to a bloodbath fueled by Iran and al-Qaeda will build our credibility as a force to be reckoned with, or even paid attention to, in the Middle East.

I honestly do not understand how people manage the mental calisthenics required to turn their perceptions in on themselves and their rational faculty into a pretzel. If I tried to replace the facts of reality with so many lies and evasions, I’m sure my head would explode.

Oh yeah, the Iranians will sooo scared of Obama. This of course would be the same Iranians the Bush administration was saying was messing around in Iraq…to the chagrin and disbelief of the Democrats.
So what is their position? Really? Anyone know at this point?

It is called real court, one person tennis. Best played by politicians. Obama is not the only person that can play this game, but he does it so well, he could win The Championships Wimbledon.

You have to admit, Obama talks purtier than Kerry did. And he doesn’t resemble Lurch, either.
Other than that, not a lot of difference that I can see.

Obama says what he thinks his current audience wants to hear, while trying to maintain what his previous audience believed. He’s a nonstarter for the presidential race.
