Windasskickers
… no sorry, that’s Shadow Wolves. US recruits Navajo, Souix and Apache trackers to hunt down al-Qaeda and Taliban crossing between the ‘Stans. They normally hunt the drug and human smugglers on the Mexican border, but this seems like a cause worthy of diverting them for.
The unit, the Shadow Wolves, was recruited from several tribes, including the Navajo, Sioux, Lakota and Apache. It is being sent to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to pass on ancestral sign-reading skills to local border units.
In recent years, members of the Shadow Wolves have mainly tracked smugglers along the US border with Mexico.
But the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan and the US military’s failure to hunt down Osama bin Laden - still at large on his 50th birthday on Saturday - has prompted the Pentagon to requisition them.
US Defence Secretary Robert M.Gates said last month: “If I were Osama bin Laden, I’d keep looking over my shoulder.”
Now, they need to fire up the Psyops. Airdrop DVDs of “A Man Called Horse” to scare the hell out of AQ and the ‘Ban and make them think they are being hunted by ruthless savages. There was another great flick from the late 60s, early 70s that involved a lot of mutilation, the title of which I can’t remember. Something about Apaches I think. Drop that one, too.

An interesting story. I wish them all the best.
However, what the hell was the story of the German lady and her son being held by Iraqis doing tacked onto a story about Indian trackers being sent to Afghanistan to teach their tracking skills?

From “Duty in the Desert”: The always insightful Jules Crittenden is calling this deployment “Windasskickers”.
Very funny. Lets hope this unit finds success very soon.
