Attorney for the (Lack of) Defense
UPDATE: Surber on Bush reading the Riot Act to Congress.
Patterico engages opposing counsel on the DOJ crisis, but wonders why he has to defend a Bush administration that won’t defend itself. Must reads for anyone who’s been wondering the same thing.
AP: Bush calls Gonzalez with a strong message of support. Tom DeLay, this is just a taste of what’s to come from the Destructo-crats in the next two years.
Politico: Bush won’t fire Gonzalez, but Gonzalez will jump if he deems himself ineffective. Meanwhile, Repubs combing the resume pile. With friends like these …
Riehl: It’s times like these that harken back to an earlier, more innocent time.
Strata-sphere: Its a pre-emptive attack over pending investigations.
Blood in the water, sharks circling roundup:
WaPo: special prosecutor who couldn’t figure out no crime had been committed and blew $2 million chasing a questionable tangental perjury charge was ranked among prosecutors who had ”not distinguished themselves.” Article notes Fitzerald was highly regarded and considered distinguished. By people who don’t mind that he began playing with matches next to a big pile of your money.
LA Times: DOJ worked to contain scandal.
NYT: the emails.
ABC: more emails.
Leftie bloggers want help trolling emails.

Beats me, what the methodology is.
Here you have elected officials buying votes….to circumvent the constitutional power of the president…No big deal.
House Democratic leaders are offering billions in federal funds for lawmakers’ pet projects large and small to secure enough votes this week to pass an Iraq funding bill that would end the war next year.
WaPo…via http://www.instapundit.com/
But you bounce some attorneys and it’s a world-ender and the admin is on defense, once again.
Someone needs to ask Pat Sajak for a couple of vowels as in u and e to go along with the consonants c and l.

Well with all due respect to Patterico, a lot of rightie blogs are out there condemning Gonzales right along with the Democrats, without really knowing what they are talking about. Exactly what is the Bush administration supposed to do to defend itself in a non-scandal which seems to be driven by people who have nothing else to do but speculate and vent etc.
