Trying To Be Sensitive …
… And not caring to run afoul of the United Nations Human Rights Council which, Allah be praised, has its eye squarely on the pressing issues of the day: Is it OK to say these Brits are illegally held hostage and paraded in violation of international law and decency by the Islamic Republic of Iran? Or do I have to leave out the Islamic part?
OK, let me try again. is it OK to say these pork-eating, alcohol-swilling Crusader spies are awaiting trial having confessed to trespassing in the blessed waters of Persia?
Look, can I get some help here? I’m just trying to do the right thing.

Well, dang, those fourteen sailors and marines were traveling with a woman, and I bet not one of them is related to her. What choice did Iran have?

Not only that, Rebecca, but did you see how she was dressed! Scandalous.
Jules, I think the mob at the UN would say that all we can safely do is zip our collective lip and sit in the quiet darkness of our terror of the boogyman. Course, joining the ranks of “who am I to know” usually leads either to shackles, or if you’re lucky, an early grave. Maybe it’s better to take your chances and turn on the light.

I want somebody to explain to me, in words of one syllable, why the US should continue to belong to the UN or to host the UN. Send them to some place like Khartoum or Harare.

“I want somebody to explain to me, in words of one syllable, why the US should continue to belong to the UN or to host the UN. ”
The UN has 192 member nations. http://www.FreedomHouse.org now lists 90 nations as “Free”, up from 79 nations in 1996.
The trend line will be that sometime in the next decade…”Free Countries”…will be the majority(97 is the magic number). In which case the UN will no longer be the “Dictators Protection Club”…if will be an organization to “Club the Dictators”.

Speaking of Iran, isn’t the spot market on oil going up? Aren’t they making a hell of a windfall off their action?
