Falklands
25th anniversary of when Britain didn’t take crap* from third world despots trying to change the subject.**
Op-For promises running commentary and directs us to this site for more coverage
Thatcher and the Falklands representative in London will be at St. Paul’s. No invasion day observance on the islands.
Tony Blair, an uncompromising supporter of an unpopular war in Iraq, was against war in the Falklands before he was for it. Here’s hoping he isn’t reverting now. (Iran, citing “positive changes” says all 15 have “confessed” but it magnanimously won’t are the humiliation vid. Maybe because Iran doesn’t have it. Hey, what’s that noise I don’t hear? Could that be the sound of cruise missiles not impacting?)

** I was dating an Argentinian woman at the time, whose family despised the military dictatorship and understood exactly what was going on, but couldn’t help getting worked up about Las Malvinas. They didn’t seem to mind my cheering for the Brits, however.

I just can’t see breaking down Royal Marines in this short a time without using serious physical inducements.
They go to boot camp/commando school for 33 weeks and have to serve an eight year enlistment so I figure they are as hard as woodpecker lips. No way a week or so of captivity would wear them down.

CavMedic, I completely agree.
And I expect that Iran learned one thing from Saddam: don’t display prisoners with bruises on TV. Makes for bad publicity.
