On Second Thought

Brits regain a sense of shame.  Priorities may be a little skewed still, however. News of hearings into the decision to let swabs sell stories trumps hearings into the capture and detention of the 15 sailors and marines in the Telegraph’s account.  AP deserves a nod for being able to tell the difference between the sizzle and the steak.  Brit Defense Secretary Des Browne helped the AP out by calling the capture “an unusual situation with wide and far-reaching consequences.” About time someone in Britian figured that out.

Lord knows the only people who should make a profit offa our grubby little wars are neocon campaign donors.

  2. CavMedic Says:

Alphie-are you not content with getting yourself banned by Jeff?

Wearing the uniform carries with it a wide array of responsibilities, chief among those is that you do nothing to disgrace that uniform. Had the Brits been a little more stoic, I would have been inclined to give them a pass. The rush to cash in sealed the deal for me, it was disgraceful.

  3. alphie Says:

Hehe, how is PW doin’ without me?

Getting banned by a “linguist” who couldn’t defend himself with words.

    Delicious irony.

I think the Britbucks story proves some people are just natural born peasants.

They will tear down anyone from their own class who might actually makes a buck on this war while allowing their “betters” to make obscene profits from it.

  4. CavMedic Says:

Oh piss off alphie-you were repeatedly smacked down at PW, but because you are impervious to reason it obviously had no effect on you. Since you are also completely without honor, I’ll let your idiotic comments about “peasants” and “betters” stand as well, no doubt you think yourself so “enlightened” as to be above any concept of proper comportment.

Many of those who have defended the Brits have said that they couldn’t be expected to behave as Prisoners of War because we aren’t at war with Iran (which is true enough in the traditional sense of war, but otherwise not so much), but the uniform of such distinguish armed services as the RN and Royal Marines requires those who wear it to behave themselves in a particular manner regardless of circumstance. These troops fell short of the example set by their predecessors-those of us with an appreciation of history understand that.

  5. alphie Says:

    Impervious to reason?

Over at PW, the threory is that the Va. Tech shooting is god’s punishment for America’s liberal ways.

Voting for Democrats last Novemeber is what did it, I supoose.

  6. CavMedic Says:

Well, there is the thread about the Duke lacrosse case in which you were accused of the most amoral behavior one commenter had ever seen either on or off of an internet message board (I quote from memory). You scurried away from that one with your tail tucked pretty quickly.

I think the commenter who said you were a virginal shut in whose favorite food is boogers had you pretty well pegged.

  7. alphie Says:

    More wingnut “reason” Cav?

  8. CavMedic Says:

I suppose you didn’t run away from that thread.

Do you prefer crusty or gooey?

  9. alphie Says:

Hehe, kinda hard to reply when you’re banned from posting, Cav.

How do you debate peasants who think rich boys should be able to rape poor women with impunity anyway?

  10. CavMedic Says:

Right. Of course that thread was a couple of days before you were banned.

And hey, can’t let the state AG saying that the lacrosse players were “completely innocent” get in the way of one of your rants can you?

You should get your caretakers to take you for a walk regularly, the fresh air is often helpful for even the most serious cases.

  11. alphie Says:

Kinda getting off topic here, Cav, but all I said was that we hadn’t heard from the alleged victim yet.

The state AG is in no position to declare someone innocent, that’s what trials are for.

All he can say is that there is insufficient evidence to prosecute.

  12. The_Real_JeffS Says:

CavMedic, the alphtard is immune to reason and logic. Not to mention yearning for attention, and being an amoral, self-serving wretch. His banning from PW comes with a collective sigh of relief from those existing outside alphtards Sphere Of Reality.

But I digress —- the Brits behaved badly in the Iranian fiasco. Generations of British soldiers are spinning in their graves, even as we speak.

The ant is an exemplar of the fact that we have become a nation of mindless rabble incapable of judgment and easily ruled by the illogical notions and faddish devisings of self-appointed social engineers. Where knowledge and reason fail, the pigs will lurch and waddle on their hind legs, and the other beasts will gawk in admiration and envy. The ant doesn’t even make it as a lurching pig, but happily settles for a role as one of the other beasts.

  14. alphie Says:

    Salty,

Having been around the blogs of the right from the beginning, I understand that what you guys consider “reason” is nothing more than a bizarre collection of biases, gut feelings and poorly understood snatches of history.

There’s nothing really wrong with that, but when things go wrong with one of your side’s adventures, you’re left with nothing to fall back on but childish insults.

Again, nothing really wrong with that, except for the fact you guys are taking the Republican party down with you.

I don’t want to live under one party (Democratic) rule for the next 20-30 years, so please at least fake a little humility and logic or else start calling yourselves “Libertarians” or some other joke political designation.

  15. The_Real_JeffS Says:

Heh! The alphtard is projecting…..again. Getting banned from PW must have really hurt.

  16. CavMedic Says:

Jeff-yep. Unfortunately, now that he has been denied his favorite litter box, we’ll have to deal with more of his droppings around here. Maybe Jules can charge Jeff some sort of troll relocation fee.

    Web Reconnaissance for 04/17/2007

A short recon of whats out there that might draw your attention.

  18. alphie Says:

eh, I don’t know about hurt.

    More sad, I guess.

PW has turned into one of those right wing blogs that ignores Iraq at all costs and instead focuses all its energy on trivialities.

In the case of PW, it now spends all its time spotting junior high debate tactics being employed by fringe left bloggers.

Beats coming up with new ways to say that losing is actually winning every single day, I guess.

  19. OldManTyme Says:

Using junior high debate tactics is why you were eventually banned from PW. I don’t see where continuing in the same mode here lends support to your opinions.

  20. RebeccaH Says:

Brit Defense Secretary Des Browne helped the AP out by calling the capture “an unusual situation with wide and far-reaching consequences.”

Um, like for instance, it was an act of war? As for far-reaching consequences, that remains to be seen. Has Britain found its spine yet?

  21. alphie Says:

    Well Old Tymer,

You gotta ask why, with defense support contractors accused of bilking the taxpayers outta billions and billions of dollars from the “war” effort, and the guys who got us into this mess moving on to jobs that pay them millions a year… does the right aim all their hate at 15 working class Britons who may make a few thousand off their stories once everyone takes a cut?

I don’t see any of you guys complaining about Tommy “No Plan” Franks’ $5 million book advance, for example.

  22. CavMedic Says:

Tommy Franks is retired and can do as he pleases. I don’t remember him abasing himself before the enemy either.

Jesus Christ, I feel stupider for having to point out these obvious differences to the little troll. Damn you Jeff Goldstein!

  23. China Law Blog Says:

Came across China Online for the first time today and my first thought was, Wow. That was also my second thought. My third thought was to spread the word. China Online is beautifully designed and user friendly. Its home page branches out to separate pa…
