Relatively fair and insightful Post article on a few intimate moments with Petraeus in the air over Baghdad. I’m sure some wag is going to snark on him flying safely overhead, although we know it isn’t that safe for helicopters, and in any case, a periodic bird’s eye view is probably useful, along with whatever other views this reportedly engaged general gets.

One of the arguments for keeping our troops in Iraq is so that they can teach Iraqi military and police better methods of interrogation and forensics than their thousands-year-old customs of beating and torture. To leftists who object that we are trying to impose Western “notions” of civilization on them, I say… well… yes.
