Yeah, Lex can write. he’s got some good stories. I look forward to meeting him at the MilBlog conference in May. I’ve been reading him for awhile now, and his local commenters are also pretty savvy.
‘course, being an airdale, I’m a tad bit biased in his favour, but what the heck. :)

Hey, sympathies and all that, but try being conservative here in Boston! I’m sure Jules can attest. Especially after being liberal all my life. Friends, family, acquaintences, grocers–you name it–look at me like I should be in an institution for the criminally insane. I’m voluntarily suppressed now, finding life more pleasurable by keeping my mouth shut, and being thought a fellow-traveler, than by speaking, and being discovered a patriot. Any wonder I have a recent fascination with life in Stalinist Russia?

I know what you mean. I lack your awesome self-control. Last summer I ended up vociferously defending Israel’s actions in Arabic class while the war was going on.
