Scratch One?
Abu Ayyub al-Masri dead? Would be good news, but not the first time we’ve heard that. CNN reports its coming from Sunni tribesmen that fought a gunbattle with al-Qaeda, and no government troops have seen the body, which could actually be better news than who got killed: Sunni tribes acting on their own to take out the trash.
That’s more good Sunni news out of Anbar, a major U.S.-Iraqi success in recent months, but comes with what looks like bad Sunni news in Baghdad. Main Sunni bloc considers pulling out of al-Maliki’s cabinet, unhappy with efforts to bring Sunnis on board. I doubt their concerns are allayed at all by this kind of news. But this is not necessarily bad news if it nudges al-Maliki, consummate windsock, back in the right direction.

That would be the Sunnis who are also “acting on their own” to conduct suicide attacks on Shia and IED attacks on American Soldiers so they’re “taking out the trash” in this case but when they plant a bomb or strap on a vest or maybe these are different Sunni and we’re fighting who for what and for how long and …uh…um…what?

Thank you, aldorossi. Short, pointless and incoherent.

Abu Ayyub al-Masri Dead or Alive?
If so, al-Qaeda in Iraq has more to worry about than US and Coalition forces, it seems the tribal leaders and even the insurgents are targeting al-Qaeda just as al-Qaeda used to target them. Talk about irony.
