Eurochimp = Person
“In many ways, Hiasl is like any other European. He expects his necessities to be provided inexplicably by unseen powers, gets excited and makes hooting noises for no apparent reason, and is accustomed to living in a small enclosure.”
OK, that’s not what it says.
It does, however, say that the animal rights activists who claim to be fighting for Hiasl the Chimp’s right to be a “person” in fact want to establish him as a sub-human … a kind of untermenschen, if you will … with half-rights:
“Our main argument is that Hiasl is a person and has basic legal rights,” said Eberhart Theuer, a lawyer leading the challenge on behalf of the Association Against Animal Factories, a Vienna animal rights group.
“We mean the right to life, the right to not be tortured, the right to freedom under certain conditions,” Theuer said.
Just like a real Eurohuman.
“We’re not talking about the right to vote here.”
No vote? This is an unacceptable infringement of Hiasl’s rights as an Eurobeing! Free speech, which doesn’t exist in much of Europe, certainly not Austria, doesn’t exactly apply in this case. Which is good, because Hiasl, if he knew he couldn’t hoot and whimper whatever he wants, might feel like little more than a caged animal.

I recently watched a series on the rise of man where they spent several hours working not to mention man’s rational faculty. In fact, in the whole series the concepts of reason and rational faculty were never uttered. I think it took hours simply because they had to work so hard to explain man’s difference from the rest of the animal world without mentioning the difference in cognition.
This is why they think a chimp is a person. Not only do they not recognize the difference between a perceptual consciousness and a conceptual consciousness, they fail to utilize that difference themselves.

And why not? All those Americans voted for George “Chimpy” McHaliburton Bu$hitler, didn’t they? If “Chimpy” can lead the free world, Hiasl should vote. And don’t forget how British citizens mailed ballots to Clark County, Ohio, so they could vote in the 2004 American president elections. It’s just not fair.
At the very least, he should vote in the United Nations elections…..Hiasl came from Sierre Leone, and lives in Europe, he’s a citizen of the world!!!!
