Blair
They call it the Long Goodbye, but he’s gone too soon. Not before an extended farewell tour. A towering figure of Churchillian proportions who recognized the greatest threat of his time and was unbending in opposition to it. Ultimately, ironically, his greatest historical moment has been his downfall, as Britain with a parliamentary system is more subject to public and political whims.
WSJ and others look at what is to come and suggest we could do worse than Gordon Brown, but the fact is that British government is already responding prematurely to domestic pressure to pull out of Iraq. RWNH applauds the European focus on global warming, but I’m afraid this kind of nonsense will be where future politicians who want to change the subject will look for territory in which they can claim gains and progress.

I have a feeling history will be kinder to Mr. Blair than his contemporaries have been.

Oh my God, this is so funny. But you’re probably talking about the Churchill who was so unbending and towering at Gallipoli. Yes, that makes sense.
