War Czar
Meet Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute. The three-star who is to be “assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser for Iraq and Afghanistan policy and implementation, Lute would have the power to direct the Pentagon, State Department and other agencies involved in the two conflicts.”
Good luck with that.

This will never work if we think he will be directing anything. A 3 star telling a bunch of 4 bangers what to do or coordinate will not work. If he acts as the operations officer then maybe, but they will be telling him . But what the heck is the J3 doing? What is the President doing? He should be making implementation decisions shouldn’t he?

HA! All DDE had to contend with was Monty, the various French gods walking on earth, and Patton (I mean besides the Germans and their allies).
The silliness never seems to end.

Let’s not forget the role of the Secretary of Defense in all of this, Tom. Or the chairman of the JCS, who is not in the chain of command, but still commands a position of influence. A lieuteant general as “war czar”? Please!
Sounds like Bush is giving something to the Dhimmicrats and other idiots to scream at and/or chew on.
