“A Somewhat Moronic Blogger”

Tbogg observes Memorial Day by snarking on Powerline for observing Memorial Day by noticing the Miss Universe competition. Bogg:

For many of us Memorial Day is both a time of reflection and a time of sorrow as we honor those who died far too young keeping this great American experiment of ours flourishing.

That’s awfully noble.  Bogg makes his point with a photo of a box of tissues, to illustrate how verklempt he is.* His own Memorial Day observance is a tribute to a movie.   Apparently it took some deep thought to come up with that. Also, with some gratuitous GI-bashing.  Bogg, intently focused on his basset hound, designer vaginas and Star Wars as the weekend progressed, apparently failed to notice that Powerline had a number of Memorial Day posts about actual veterans and and actual sacrifice throughout the weekend.

Disclosure: This blog was Powerline’s Blog of the Month for about three months earlier this year. This blog has also enjoyed being on the receiving end of periodic Bogg snarks. The writer of this blog was an extra in The Deerhunter, and thinks it is a crappy, contrived flick that could have used some editing.

* Special thanks to Monkeyfacedliberal in comments for highlighting Bogg’s comedic genius in making jerk-off jokes about Memorial Day. The tastelessness does beggar belief.

Why do you give that idiot any air time?

I wouldn’t give the moron the time of day.

  2. Gaia sighs... Says:

Hmm. A bit callous of him, no?

Rather like “~The wife~ wants to know why I’m…”

  3. RebeccaH Says:

He puts up a picture of dead children, and a post about the EvilBushHitlerHalliburton killing machine, and aside from a snarky non-informative caption, neglects to tell us how the two are related. Who killed the children? He doesn’t say. Are we to assume American GIs did it? Apparently. What’s his proof? Because al-Jazeera said so. Then why put up a post like that at all? Because he’s an America-hating, self-hating, angry little man who secretly wishes he were still the dumb little boy on the pony.

  4. The_Real_JeffS Says:

He’s still the dumb little boy, Rebecca. He just yearns for that pony.

    Um Jules?

I think the picture of the box of tissues is in reference to this:

“In honor of both Memorial Day and the Miss Universe Pageant, Mr. Hinderaker Esq. then pulled his own ” upset” and, seconds later, 50 million sperm gave their lives for “Oh God!” and country.”

You know, in the future, before you call someone moronic, you might want to make sure that you know what the heck you are talking about, and you are not just missing the joke.

    Peace,

    You are welcome.

However, please note that I did not point out Tbogg’s comedic genius.

I just pointed out that you missed the joke. In other words, you were wrong when you wrote “Bogg makes his point with a photo of a box of tissues, to illustrate how verklempt he is.”

I am glad I could clear that up for you.

    Peace,

    Monkey Faced Liberal

    MFL,

He missed the joke again. He said he was “making jerk-off jokes about Memorial Day,” when the joke is clearly all over Hindrocket.

  8. saltydog Says:

No matter how you cut it, it ain’t funny and it’s in bad taste. That holds true whether you’re talking about a post on Memorial Day or any other day of the year.

  9. Mgmax Says:

You know, one of the things our soldiers fight for is the right of ordinary folks to NOT go around thinking about the military because it’s in our face all day. Anyone who thinks being interested in Miss USA on Memorial Day is wrong is invited to go live in Libya or Franco’s Spain or some other place where they treat the military with the kind of respect and full-time attention you apparently think they deserve.

  10. Zipcar3000 Says:

Shorter Crittenden: Anyone who would dare print jokes on Memorial Day that I don’t get is a NaziCommieIslamofascist.

    Well played, sir!

  11. dr. luba Says:

    Mgmax,

Franco’s Spain? So you’ve discovered the secret to time travel?

Seriously, the problem with this war is that people not only DON’T go around thinking about the military, but rarely give it any thought what-so-ever. They don’t have to, as few outside the working classes know or are related to anyone in the military, nor are they at any risk of having to serve themselves.

It wold be nice, though, if on one day a year, Memorial Day, we would give some thought to those who have died to preserve our constitution and our freedoms.

“For many of us Memorial Day is both a time of reflection and a time of sorrow as we honor those who died far too young keeping this great American experiment of ours flourishing.”

Didn’t see any sorrow, honoring or reflection on this guy’s site. Just a lot of anti-American propaganda, and some boring crap about basset hounds.
