Great Voice Silent

Steve Gilliard is dead. Here are some of the tributes to one of the great American thinkers of our day.  An eloquent and inspiring voice. “Powerful words,” usually beginning with “F,” constituting an “unrelenting moral insistence.”

And here’s some of the eloquence and deep thinking. And his inspirational signature moment.

Insulting him was pointless.  The point, of course, was insulting others.

So why the deathly silence on the right? Where are the tributes to a worthy adversary?

OK, here we go.

Frankly, I never heard of him. 41 is ungodly young to die, but I’ve heard unremitting hostility is bad for the heart.

So why the deathly silence on the right?

“It’s not good to speak ill of the dead.”

I had to read a couple of the links to remember who Gilliard was. I didn’t read him, just about him, from both left and right bloggers. That was enough.

I heard the name, but usually ignore the most vile of the moonbats. Just too much bother to try and look for some small grain of value in their oceans of hate and rubber stamp leftist cant.

Of course the left loved him. He did for them what they were unable to do: attack Michael Steele in a way that, if a white person had done it, he/she would have been rightfully called a racist.

Firedoglake says Gilliard was a “titan”. True, in one way at least. Oliver Willis, take note.

Like some others here, I’d never heard of him. But after reading some of the eulogies, I went over to his website to look at his work–turns out his website doesn’t have any of his work. So I waited a few days and went back again. Nope, his website still doesn’t carry his work.

    Odd.
