School Day in Jerusalem

Judith Klinghoffer revisits a day in the life and death of her alma mater, Hebrew University, as she contemplates the boycott of Israeli academics and circulates a counter petition.

I attended Janis Coulter’s funeral in Brookline, Mass., as a reporter. It was as bad as all funerals are when people die violently, though when people die in the course of doing something they believe in, in this case the choice to make a stand and live free in Israel, there is something you can walk away with.

I signed the petition. This boycott of Israeli universities and academics makes no sense to me at all.

I signed as well. As you said Rebecca, it makes absolutely no sense to boycott solely the Israeli academics and universities while leaving the Palestinians off scott free!
