Dateline Paris

You’ve seen all the dumb articles, now here’s the mindsucking vid. compliments of Becks in comments.

OK, so you just read the vapid headlines. Here’s the full spectrum of Hilton coverage:

Reuters:

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The judge who sent Paris Hilton to jail called a hearing for Friday on why the hotel heiress was released early and placed under house arrest in a move swiftly challenged by prosecutors and local politicians.

AP (NYT’s choice):

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paris Hilton is headed for a courtroom showdown Friday that could put her back behind bars, as prosecutors sought to hold sheriff’s officials in contempt for releasing her early from jail.

NYPost:

LYNWOOD, Calif. - Despondent jailbird Paris Hilton, teetering on the brink of a nervous breakdown, was plucked from her cell yesterday after serving just three days behind bars, and returned to her personal lap of luxury, outraging prosecutors who vowed to lock her up again.

NY Daily News

LOS ANGELES - Just one day after being sprung from jail early, airhead heiress Paris Hilton may be headed back to her cold hard cell.

Daily Mail:

Celebrations for Paris Hilton’s release from prison only three days into a 23-day sentence were cut short today after she was ordered back to court.

Sun:

TERRIFIED PARIS HILTON CONNED doctors into releasing her early from jail, furious fellow lags claimed last night.

Boston Herald:

NICOLE RICHIE said she’s “scared” she’ll suffer a similar fate as her BFF Paris Hilton when her Dec. 11 DUI offense comes to trial later this month. “I’m just keeping my fingers crossed,” she told David Letterman on “The Late Show” the other night. The “Simple Life” star quickly added she’s “willing to face whatever consequences come my way,” and said she takes “responsibility for what I’ve done.” Because of a prior DUI conviction in 2003, the 25-year-old Simple-ton socialite faces mandatory jail time if convicted of a second DUI in 10 years. Under California law, Nicole faces up to a year in the slammer.

Fox:

NEW YORK —  The Rev. Al Sharpton denounced Paris Hilton’s release from jail on Thursday, saying it had “all of the appearances of economic and racial favoritism.”

“I think that it’s both another glaring display of how race and money seem to get different treatments. There seems to be a different criminal justice system for some than others,” Sharpton said.

Fox’s John Gibson:

Al Sharpton is right.

Today when Paris Hilton got sprung from jail 20 days early — from a sentence that was just half of what was originally imposed — the story turned out to be that Paris’ shrink went to the jailers and said she was about to have a nervous breakdown. So they let her go home early with an ankle bracelet. Sharpton immediately said there may have been racism involved here.

SJ Mercury News columnist Mike Cassidy: “You want to punish Paris? Stop watching.” (this position not endorsed by management of this blog)

WP columnist Eugene Robinson:

Warning: This is a column about Paris Hilton. Those who are trying to ignore the travails of the famous-for-being-famous hotel heiress might want to avert their eyes. The rest of you, join me in honorable surrender. We have no choice but to pay attention.

Bah. Just shut up and watch the damn trainwreck.

Hey, look! Paris is a video star!

I think 30 minutes in the stocks in front of a crowd armed with rotten fruit would be a much better rehab exercise than any amount of incarceration for her.

But I’m one of those dinosaur traditionalists.

Oh boohoo. I could not care less about what happens to that . . . er . . . person of no interest.

I do like the stocks idea, however.

  5. The_Real_JeffS Says:

God, even the Fox web site has a photo of her sobbing, with the caption, “PARIS IN PAIN.” Gag.

Can’t they just shoot the stupid bint, and put her out of her misery? You’d think there wasn’t a war going on, or something.

  6. RebeccaH Says:

I think they should just take her shopping in Wal-Mart or J.C. Penney, and make her wear what she buys for a solid month. For her, there would be no worse punishment.
