I Lieb This Guy
Lieberman re Iran, desireability of bombing same:
“I think we’ve got to be prepared to take aggressive military action against the Iranians to stop them from killing Americans in Iraq,” Lieberman told Bob Schieffer. “And to me, that would include a strike into… over the border into Iran, where we have good evidence that they have a base at which they are training these people coming back into Iraq to kill our soldiers.”
The Indepedent former Democrat from Connecticut said that he was not calling for an invasion of Iran, but he did say the U.S. should target specific training camps.
“I think you could probably do a lot of it from the air, but they can’t believe that they have immunity for training and equipping people to come in and kill Americans,” Lieberman said.
Yeah. As long as we’re talking to Iran, we need to tell them if they don’t stop, then this is what will happen. Then, if they don’t stop, we need to do it.

The Senator said he was not calling for an end to the limited diplomatic efforts that are underway between Washington and Tehran.
Bombs are diplomatic initiatives in cases like this.

Lieberman Suggests Bombing Iran, Left Comes Unglue
The insane left hasn’t quite come to grips still with Joe Lieberman defeating Nutroots candidate Ned Lamont last year, and today Lieberman said taking out Iran’s nuke facilities is a course of action we should pursue if necessary.

This man owns one of the few courageous voices left in politics. Or anywhere among our vaunted institutions.
Shame on us.

I saw a documentary today on the Battle of Mogadishu, and when they were discussing the capture and subsequent release of one of our pilots, they very pointedly said that the pilot was released because we threatened to bomb the hell out of Mogadishu.
The Iranians know we can bomb the hell out of them, but they won’t be frightened by that unless they believe we’ll actually do it. And after all the spineless bumbling Congress has done so far, the only way to make them believe it is to actually do it.

Clausewitz said that war is an extension of diplomacy by other means. Looks like Lieberman got that message.

I wouldn’t call common sense and pragmatism “courageous”. That it is consider so, is quite a statement about the rest of them though ;->

Lieberman’s hardline stance on Iran
With his recent comments on what we should do if Iran continues to aid anti-US forces in Iraq, has he finally, once and for all, completely ostracized himself from the Democratic party? Here’s video of Lieberman’s call for a strike on Iran…

Purple Avenger, I agree that speaking reason shouldn’t require courage, but it does these days. And I agree that it tells us about the craven cowardice of those sitting in Congress who wet their pants over every poll and negative news item. What is left but cowardice when one has no convictions for which one is willing to stand against the mob. They are not leaders, but the crudest kind of second-hand followers of the loudest voice.
And dropping the ant on Iran would surely break any number of international laws governing the conduct of war. Hell, forget international law, it would be against all decency. I grant it’s fun to contemplate, though.
