Purple Avenger, I agree that speaking reason shouldn’t require courage, but it does these days. And I agree that it tells us about the craven cowardice of those sitting in Congress who wet their pants over every poll and negative news item. What is left but cowardice when one has no convictions for which one is willing to stand against the mob. They are not leaders, but the crudest kind of second-hand followers of the loudest voice.

And dropping the ant on Iran would surely break any number of international laws governing the conduct of war. Hell, forget international law, it would be against all decency. I grant it’s fun to contemplate, though.

I wouldn’t call common sense and pragmatism “courageous”. That it is consider so, is quite a statement about the rest of them though ;->

I saw a documentary today on the Battle of Mogadishu, and when they were discussing the capture and subsequent release of one of our pilots, they very pointedly said that the pilot was released because we threatened to bomb the hell out of Mogadishu.

The Iranians know we can bomb the hell out of them, but they won’t be frightened by that unless they believe we’ll actually do it. And after all the spineless bumbling Congress has done so far, the only way to make them believe it is to actually do it.
