Mandate
LA Times/Bloomberg: Approval of Congress Lowest in a Decade. According to prevailing Democratic governance-by-poll rules, this means it is time for Congress to resign enmasse. OK, that’s a little dramatic. We’re talking about people duly elected to serve the United States for a term of two years. Perhaps it would be useful if they were put to work trimming the shubbery at the White House. That’s about as close as it looks like they’ll get to having their way with Bush.
Here are the numbers: Congress, 27 percent approval. Pelosi, 36 percent. The LA Times compares that to Newt Gringrich’s 46 percent.
Bush, well, it’s really not necessary to get into unpleasant details, like how much higher his ratings are than Congress and Pelosi’s. Let’s just say, “The poll also found continued public unhappiness with President Bush, whose approval ratings have been stuck below 40% since last year,” and leave it at that.
Then there’s Harry Reid’s 19 percent.
Meanwhile, “Representatives of Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Democrats were undeterred by the public’s anger.”
Feisty and quite unsurrenderly of them. But what about the will of the American people? Don’t the Democratic leaders understand they have a mandate to put paper bags over their heads?

Gee, the Dhimmicrats indulge in selective slavish obedience to public polls. Who woulda thunk it?

“Undeterred by the public’s anger” is just another way of saying they don’t a rat’s patoot about the people they were elected to serve. It’s refreshing to hear them come right out and say it, though.

I don’t understand. Where is the ant? We’re talking about polls and statistics here–the only thing that is right up his alley. Today’s script must be late.

I don’t think this is what they expected when they talked about “change”.
Is anyone trading congressional approval index futures?

Congress critters should protest this lowered “like me” rating by dousing themselves in gasoline and setting themselves alite in a mass protest on live TV.
Actually, make it pay per view. I’d order it.

Meh. I think we should play Logan’s Run w/ ‘em. Heck I’ll be generous, we’ll wait until their approval rating drops below 33% before sending them for “renewal”. I can just see the little hand thingy turning red as their poll numbers drop. Washington would be nearly as deserted.
