A Strong Sense of Irany
The Washington Post rounds up what anyone who’s been paying any attention to Iran already knows. Iran is in the middle of a crackdown of dissent, as hardliners and moderates struggle amid widespread economic, political and social discontent. You’d almost think conditions are perfect for a non-Islamic revolution.

Iran is eager to change the subject, with professional help. Continues to push.
Jimmy Carter gets credit for kicking off the Great Jihad against the Great Satan by appeasing Iran. Nathan Thrall notes that Reagan was no slouch in that department, and suggests its back to the future as Iran again tests the limits, confident “America cannot do a damn thing.”
So thoroughly has the United States eroded its credibility that today one must wonder whether it would be rational for Iran, in contemplating another large-scale attack, to count on American retaliation. The question for America’s leaders is not whether “a nuclear Iran could probably be deterred,” but, rather, whether “could probably” is good enough. “I want you to know,” Ahmadinejad declared in January 2007, “that the Iranian nation has humiliated you many times, and it will humiliate you in [the] future.”
via Ledeen. Underscoring the point, the same IAEA that confirms Iran is forging ahead with nuke plans says doing anything about it would be “madness.”
