All The Rage
With the big Islamic rage revivalist movement in Pakistan, The Nose On Your Face is hosting an Islamic Rage Boy Retrospective. Do stop in to contemplate the face of Islamic rage in all its seasons.
Great News: original Khomeini fatwa vs. Rushdie still valid. Just needs to be dusted off, no need to issue a new one. With so much going into Iran’s peaceful nuclear power program, it is critical not to have to divert important resources into an entirely new fatwa when the old one will do.

You know, Jules, the MEMRI blog had a piece about Egyptian clerics trying to cut down on the fatwas. Seems like everybody’s issuing one. Like the Saudi fellow (also recounted by MEMRI) who issued one against anyone who obeyed the laws of man over the laws of God. That wasn’t so bad (he was a Saudi sheikh, after all), but the claim that he was misinterpreted got me. (You’re a reporter; how many times you heard that one?) Come on, man, I want to say: stand by your beliefs. You’re a bloody sheikh, for pete’s sake. If you want to stone infidels–and you know you do–say it loud and proud.
As for Rushdie, now that he’s a knight, give him a sword and a steed, and let him take care of himself. Or maybe there’s group coverage under a guild?
