“A Soft, Safe Place To Be”
Fred Thompson’s secret weapon: his legions of his former girlfriends.
Lorrie Morgan, a country singer who dated Thompson and considered marrying him in the mid-1990s, told The Sunday Times: “I couldn’t think of a bad word to say about Fred if somebody put a gun to my head.
“Fred is a perfect example of chivalry. He’s the kind of man little girls dream about marrying, who opens doors for you, lights your cigarettes, helps you on with your coat, buys wonderful gifts. It’s every woman’s fantasy.” Thompson, who wooed Baroness Thatcher during a visit to London last week, is expected to announce officially next month that he is running for president. He is already challenging Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, for first place in polls of likely Republican voters.
Morgan remembers encouraging Thompson to run for president when they were together. “I think he has a great chance of capturing the women’s vote. He’s majestic. He’s a soft, safe place to be and that could be Fred’s ticket. Women love a soft place to lay and a strong pair of hands to hold us,”
Eat your heart out, Bill.

Sad to admit it, but there is not a single one of my relationships that would have said such a thing. Any one of them would spout about my shortfallings at any chance, much less a gun to the head.
I was a Duncan Hunter fan, but now I’m for Fred! Mostly because I want to learn his tactics though.

I haven’t involved myself in the upcoming insanity as of yet, so I don’t know where Thompson stands on the issues most important to me. He does seem to be the affable Southern gentleman, though, and that does hold a great deal of appeal for any woman who’s been exposed to it before. I stress that this only applies to adult women, not those feminist types, who are so damned insecure as women that they must hate men to be “validated”, and are scared to death to be treated like a lady.
Any woman confident enough to be a lady will demand a gentleman.

…as opposed to Bill C’s former flings, who as often as not accuse him of rape.

Can’t say as I see Fred for boyfriend material. But he articulates a political philosophy that I like a lot. I’m hoping for a Thompson/Giuliani ticket in 08.
