News Flashes
When exit is their strategy, why should anyone be surprised they’re strategizing another exit? Long history of shooting themselves in the foot in headlong rush to defeat.
Just as the Taliban admits defeat. They’re turning it into a children’s crusade. Sorry, bad choice of words. (Strategy Page says terrorism is something new for the Taliban. He means suicide bombings, though I’d suggest providing safe harbor for al Qaeda, beatings and summary executions inspired by Sharia make the Taliban a dyed-in-the-wool terrorist group.)
Firing up for freedom: Michael Yon on smoking a terrorist in Baquba and the critical role smoking has played in turning locals against al-Qaeda there.
Al-Qaeda vs. Sunni tribes, as al-Qaeda scores in its no-win strategy.

Meanwhile, about Guantanamo.

Has anyone heard the Defeatocrats give an honest attempt at assessing what might happen if we leave Iraq and Afghanistan now? I haven’t.

And they don’t want to, JK, because that would mean admitting that they’re to blame if the region goes up in flames.

So, what? Did their campaign to retreat in defeat from Iraq go so well that they decided to do the same in Afghanistan?
The only thing the left ever seems to be for is more power and money from taxpayers. In all other areas, they are avid againsters.

Pardon my correction… “In all other areas, they are avid gangsters“.

Here’s my exit strategy: Destroy the enemy…then bug out. If it takes 50 more years then we bug out 50 years from now.
And, I’ll pay attention to the Demo-Rats demands for an exit strategy when I hear their exit strategy for the troops they’ve put in Europe, Korea, Kosovo etc., etc., etc.
Until then: piss off Democrats.

Re Taranto’s piece:
‘In overturning the administratively created war-crimes commissions, the Supreme Court found that detainees are entitled to some protections under the Geneva Conventions. It did not afford them the privileges enjoyed by legitimate prisoners of war–those who wear uniforms, carry weapons openly and otherwise comply with the rules of war. Instead, it ruled that they have more-limited rights under Geneva’s Common Article 3, which applies to conflicts “not of an international character.” This originally meant civil wars, but the court imaginatively reasoned that since al Qaeda is not a nation, its war against America is not “international.”‘
I read their idiotic decision. The SCOTUS is a total joke, and it always has been (Dred Scot, Schenk v. U.S, US. v. Miller, Korematsu v. U.S…you name it they screw it up). You could get a more accurate ruling on any point of law by flipping a coin then by going to these clowns.
