Inspecting Lugar
Sen. Richard Lugar wants Bush to abandon this surge business right now and look to our long-term vital interests. Nothing in this article indicates he offered any useful suggestions on what is to follow the surge beyond the helpful “diplomacy” suggestion, or that he got into what “our vital interest over the long term” is, and how he proposes Bush should see to it. Reporting is a little vague. Drawdown but not pullout. He and Voinovich don’t want to be against a U.S. troop presence in Iraq. They just doesn’t want to be for it.
Sound more and more like war plan the Dems were pushing. You know, this one here. No wait, that can’t be it.

I’m beginning to wonder just how some of these people ever managed to get elected, what with the problem they have with shit falling unimpeded out of their mouths.

Lincoln had those kind, but he prevailed, even after Grant lost thousands and thousands and thousands, in prevailing. Hopefully Bush will prevail, even though, in my opinion, he’s damn sure is prosecuting this war,(both in Afghanistan AND Iraq, as McClellan did, that one war.

As far as I can tell, he is talking about a drawdown not a ‘withdrawl’. Even Gen Odierno has talked about a drawdown maybe in the fall, maybe in the spring.
