Non-Event
As wielders of non-mandate seek to use non-scandal about a non-crime to nonplus non-majority party. Leahy subpoenas Rove.
For people who have had little to get excited about but non-war crimes, non-binding resolutions, and the prosecution of non-offenders, this is a big moment.
Kyle from Left Field: (I have no idea what he is trying to say. I think he more or less shares my view, but wishes this were something more. He does, however, celebrate this silly remark by Leahy):
The Bush-Cheney White House continues to place great strains on our constitutional system of checks and balances.
Last time I checked, it was Congress that couldn’t figure out who was president, had trouble with veto math, kept doing the same thing over and over again, claiming a non-existent mandate and in this case and others, has been attempting to usurp executive powers.
Ever a dingbat, Pam at Dem Daily doesn’t disappoint. Who is that guy she’s talking about? Hang on, the junior senator of my state. Back on the back bench, he’s advanced beyond 2004 but now stuck in 2006:
(Blah blah blah) Evidently, some people still haven’t wrestled with what happened last November 7th.
Well, I could name about 260 or so who’ve been wasting everbody’s time wrestling with it.
Whiskey Fire, obsessed with establishing right to say “fuck,” correctly identifies this subpoena issue as trivial.
Americablog: Interfere with the executive branch more! Try to, anyway, if you think you can pull it off. Which would be a new experience for … never mind.

Come on, Jeffy. I know you get all bent out of shape when people tell public lies. So I just know you must be really outraged about the top law enforcement officer in the country getting up and lying under oath.

The definition of insane behavior is to keep repeating the same mistake over and over, expecting a different result.

Never have so many gone after so few with so little. Do these people realize that they are making fools of themselves? With everything that is going on, this is what they are playing at? And by doing so, they expect to win the White House?
To hell with Islamofascism. With just a little patience, the country will be theirs by default, surrendered on the altar of remarkably petty scandal-mongering.

Do these people realize that they are making fools of themselves?
There’s a show called “Who wants to be a superhero?”, which involves people prancing around in costumes, pretending to fight crime and such, in some sort of “reality” show. I can’t stand watching it, although it is (sort of) tongue in cheek, in part because I loathe “reality” shows (they ain’t), and in part because people making fools of themselves on TV for money peaked with Bob Barker and “The Price is Right”.
But it reminds of the cretins in Congress, because they are so deluded that they honestly believe they are heros, not fools. A variation of “The Emperor’s New Clothing” tale, if you will.
God, but those Congresscritters look ridiculous.
