He has had the Western media eating out of the palm of his hand … At the same time that Che is the chief executioner for the Cuban revolution and hundreds of bodies are being piled up every week by firing squads, we have none other than Ed Sullivan referring to Fidel Castro as the George Washington of his country.
It’s a great shew. But what about the universal* Third World health care!
Now, Ed Sullivan made amends later. He is one of the few who actually retracted his comment. But we had Harry Truman saying Castro was doing what was best for Cuba - quote “we ought to extend our sympathy and help him to do what is right for them.” We had CBS’s Edward R. Murrow. Look at the movie “Good Night and Good Luck” - oh, Ed Murrow snarled when he got in front of Joe McCarthy. He was the grand inquisitor when he got in front of a right-winger. Well, Murrow actually went to Havana to interview Castro, and he complimented his dog, “That’s a cute puppy, little Fidelita!”

Ah, but Che is the left’s favorite role model, PA! Besides those few hundred executions that he personally supervised, there’s this little gem (from Jules’ link, emphasis is mine):

Comrade Chavez set up a system, and all lefties love a system, doncha know? Added to that cool picture of his, and Che is da man! Everyone on the left wants to be like Che.

There is more than enough information about the nature of Castro’s Cuba to make any glorifying of the place an exercise in either conscious evasion or knowing and prodigious lying. I think the only people who are innocent are the kids who have never been taught the truth about Che, or a great many other historical facts.
We may call these people “useful idiots,” but I think blood-thirsty, anti-human bastards is a better description.

You should see the look of confusion on a college student’s face when you point to the T-shirt and say, “Che was a murderer, you know.” It’s almost like kicking a puppy. You’re harshing their mellow.
