Don’t let the customs post barrier bonk your head on the way out! More Americans heading north:
The number of U.S. citizens who moved to Canada last year hit a 30-year high, with a 20 percent increase over the previous year and almost double the number who moved in 2000.
In 2006, 10,942 Americans went to Canada, compared with 9,262 in 2005 and 5,828 in 2000, according to a survey by the Association for Canadian Studies …
“There has been a definite increase in the past five years — the number hasn’t exceeded 10,000 since 1977,” says Jack Jedwab, the association’s executive director. “During the mid-70s, Canada admitted between 22,000 and 26,000 Americans a year, most of whom were draft dodgers from the Vietnam War.”
The current increase appears to be fueled largely by social and political reasons, says Jedwab, based on anecdotal evidence.
“Those who are coming have the highest level of education — these aren’t people who can’t get a job in the states,” he says. “They’re coming because many of them don’t like the politics, the Iraq War and the security situation in the U.S. By comparison, Canada is a tension-free place. People feel safer.”
Clearly they don’t know about this guy. Guns are American. Very bad. Lumberpsycho used a chainsaw. Hey, what about this guy? But how safe is that place, anyway? I suppose its OK if the terrorists are just passing through on their way to the U.S. Hey, what about these guys? That place might not be safe at all! Run! Iceland! Hang on, they kill whales. I’ve got it … Cuba! Great health care! No terrorism threat! As long as you steer clear of Castro’s cigars!

No doubt they feel safer because they are out from under the jackboots of Emperor McChimpy’s secret police. Dang, but that North Dakota Gulag is nasty!

Crikey, this news is cause for great celebration!
These are the progressives we are talking about, who are the ruination of this country.
I’m all for ideological cleansing, when it’s of their narcissistic, delusional “bien pensant” ilk!
More, more, I say …. and maybe sanity will be restored in the great asylums of the lunatic elites: academia, the media, etc.
Let’s take a cue from the Maine airport troop greeters and form joyfully triumphant escort lines - but cheering on a great exit roustabout!

I am happy for anyone to leave my country who isn’t content to stay here. Perhaps some are leaving because of ideological reasons, perhaps others are leaving because they’ll feel more comfortable in the great “white” north, and maybe a few are just taking advantage of business opportunities. In any case, I wish you joy of your new home. No doubt the republic will continue to stand in your absence. And I hope our friend Canada isn’t discomfited by an unwarranted invasion of really unpleasant people.

As much as I would like to believe that we are bleeding bleeding hearts, I suspect that it has more to do with work in the vast oil fields (or sands) being developed in northern Canada–especially as we stupidly allow our own oil industry to continue to age and rust, while denying any advance in developing our own fields (the viros anti-industrial revolution continues apace).
