Yeah, Wrong Tribe Though
Rightwingnuthouse’s anthropological observations at YearlyKos:
The number one thing I learned was that liberals are people too. This may not seem an earth shattering observation. After all, we’ve suspected for years that lefties shared many of our genes and that they may, at some point in their evolution, have even used stone tools and decorated their bodies with various kinds of artwork.
I can assure you that they are at least as similar to us as chimpanzees – except chimps are cuter and don’t constantly interrupt you when you’re speaking and trying to make a point. However, all that aside, liberals are pretty normal. They have a different sense of humor of course. And they may not laugh as much as conservatives although I wonder who will be doing the chuckling on election day 2008?
They have their radicals. So do conservatives. Both manifestations of extremism are humorless, boring, and smelly.
Nuthouse is right. Having been a default college lib in San Francisco of all places … maybe more of a not particularly engaged moderate who veered wildly on both sides of the center line depending on issue and mood, and dwelt for many years among diverse tribes … I can attest that they are in fact people, nose rings, birkenstocks and all. As are dish-lipped New Guinea highlanders. The difference is, most dish-lipped New Guinea highlanders have a well-developed sense of which tribe they’re in, and which side of their taro root has the pork fat on it.
Many of the contacts I maintain in the lefty cult, quite adept at tool use. It’s not genetic. In some cases its environmental … nurture, not nature. It’s varying states of dementia, though there are documented cases of actual brain-pithing, after which they insert software to create droid-like creatures.
Read the rest. Some off-the-cuff 2008 observations and notes on lefty whiteness, male domination. But we already knew that thing about the left being the side of race and gender equality is a crock. Don’t even get me started on that demeaning, racist philosophy, the charmingly Orwellian ”affirmative action.”
