Rove Gone

Our Dark Lord Rove, exiting stage right. WSJ reports its been in the offing for a year.  Timing may be intended to remove a lightning rod, distraction prior to the battles of the fall, during this interim when Dems cannot claim it as a result of one of their ineffectual witchhunts. Not that that will stop them.  Rove predictions here, all look about right: 

… Mr. Rove said he expects Democrats to give the 2008 presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, whom he described as “a tough, tenacious, fatally flawed candidate.” He also said Republicans have “a very good chance” to hold onto the White House in next year’s elections. 

Mr. Rove also said he expects the president’s approval rating to rise again, and that conditions in Iraq will improve as the U.S. military surge continues. He said he expects Democrats to be divided this fall in the battle over warrantless wiretapping, while the budget battle — and a series of presidential vetoes — should help Republicans gain an edge on spending restraint and taxes.

Lefties casting this as a “get out while the getting’s good” move, but that presumes he was likely to be got, and there’s been no indication Dems have as much as a fingerhold. Does the Bush admin actually fear the emergence of skeletons?  Maybe. Look for the theories to start emerging shortly. But I doubt it.  Late admin exit not particularly unusual, even for key advisors. 

Welcome, Pajamas, Meme, etal!  Always good to see you. It’s Monday, fraught with perils. You may want to pull up for a minute, get your bearings.  Whatever you do, don’t go the wrong way.  Stop and read the IMs.  Never forget that America is a great country.  But Africa has its moments, too.

   I think this is what happened: The Dark Lord looked around, saw that Bush has only a year to go, and said, “My job here is done.” So, now he’s gone. But… is he really?

   This explains why wronwright hasn’t been seen lately. If we hear that a mead sotted roofer/tax-attorney is taking Rove’s place, we’ll know where he’s been.

   I read somewhere that Joshua Bolten said anyone who wanted to leave before Jan. 2009 had to quit by Labor Day. Maybe he just had enough.
