So why did the Western Roman Empire fall? According to Heather, the answer is the Germanic barbarians.
And here I was, looking forward to listening to a fiddle, and visiting some really nice orgies in my declining years……..

The difference is that America didn’t set out to conquer the world using its military might, but used its business practices (free trade, innovation, etc.) instead. If the American “empire” falls, even China won’t be able to withstand the fallout.

The U.S. didn’t set out to conquer the world? I’ve been reading the wrong blogs!

We’ve got to be the first nation powerful enough to actually conquer the world if we really choose to, and also the first nation with the power to conquer the world that’s actually trying for all its might not to have to.
And, as to the US falling like Rome did, I seem to remember, once upon a not too long ago, that Brazil was going to take center stage in world market power and such. Heck, they even redesigned their flag and made a brand new capital city.
Or was it the Germans with their uber craftsmanship and old world know how that was gonna put us under?
Or was it the Soviets with their glorious five year plans?
Or was it the EU with its massive markets?
Or was it China with its domination and control of the shelf space in Walmart?
Or was it the “pac rim dragons” with their cheaper, smaller cars?
How many times have we been scheduled to fall so far?
