Friday afternoon thought experiment
Are you at the office on a Friday afternoon in August when everybody else is on vacation or headed to the beach? If so, here is a thought experiment to soak up some of the idleness in your devil’s playground.
If you knew for a fact — perhaps because Allah whispered in your ear — that a Democrat was going to win the presidential election in November 2008, which leading Democrat would you prefer? For the purpose of this discussion, consider only Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards among announced candidates. Nobody else seems to have a shot. If you want to encourage Al Gore to jump in, knock yourself out, but be prepared to explain your preference.
If you want to vote on the topic, I have posted the same question in an online poll over at TigerHawk (I could not make the buttons work here). Comment here, though, so we can get something going.

My preferred least-bad Democrat, by the way, is Hillary Clinton. By a long shot.

TH,
That was almost painful. It’s definitely as close to voting for Hillary as I will ever get. But what really surprised me was how little time it took for me to decide.

Hil by a landslide, with the understanding that I would vote for a dead guy running against her.

Hell, wwhawkeye, I’d vote for Jimmah Cahtah over Hillary!
But of the three,……..geeze, TW, this is painfull…..I’d have to go with Hillary as well. She’s a hardcore socialist robber baron, but that’s marginally better than the lightweight Obama, or the greedy shyster Edwards. Obama would destroy this nation through his inherent cluelessness; Edwards would pimp us out for hard cash. Hillary, in this regards, is more predictable, and thus the preferrable opponent.

My problem with Hil is that I would be voting for Bill. She may be **politically** attractive but he’s an albatross. Now I have to take a shower for even thinking of that.

We already did that Clinton duo for 8 long years.
Is this the best America can do ?
Hillary thinks it’s the government’s job to use the power of taxation to redistribute wealth. (except her own, of course)
Those founding fatherpersons would shriek in dismay at this concept of the powers of government in the Republic.

Why don’t we chip in to buy her a ticket to paradise and enroll her in the 72 virgins program? Talk about payback on the ‘Splodadopes

I’d go for Obama. Any of the three would be a disaster but Obama would have the best chance of being an original and entertaining disaster.

Methinks Hillary as a virgin will be a tough sell.
I selected Edwards in the belief that he could do the least harm.

Gotta good point there, Larry. Between make up and hair do’s, Edwards would do the least harm. Of course we’d have the First Bitch to be concerned with…Elizzibeth.
On the other hand, “we the people” would be paying for those friggin’ haircuts.

Are you okay with the current choices available for the 2008 Presidential election? Whether you are or are not check out Elect’d (http://www.electd.com). You can nominate a new candidate to run and vote/comment on existing candidates in the race.

I read too fast to catch the whole list. Is Satan on there? Because he’s be better than Clinton or Obama and (Both God and the devil forbid) Edwards.
If a Democrat HAS to win, I’m voting for Satan. His minions like Billary suck as candidates. Let’s have the real deal.

Why is there never a “none of the above” spot? In lieu of that, I’d just have to abstain. I couldn’t live with myself if I voted for any one of those three. I might have to live with one of them, but I don’t want to live with the knowledge that I actively helped put one in office. A person can only put up with so much.

What wwhawkeye said. Although, to be honest, if these were my only choices, this would have to be the very first election I ever sat out.

Heck, I’d just start swimming toward the south pacific while working on my Australian accent.
