Continuing the Afghan theme I tossed at you yesterday…
Yesterday, we at Castle Argghhh! offered you Pakistan.
Today, meet our other “Man in the ‘Stan” - this time Afghanistan.
Meet Joe - our land-locked sailor, as he chats with us about life as an Afstan fobbit.
Note - Link fixed. I *hate* it when I do that.

Rebecca - I apologize, the original link was to a different post from yesterday.
The link is fixed now.
As for “Sugarbuttons”… you’ll have to hang out at the Castle for a bit and meet Bill, and ask the ladies how he earned his name.

Thanks, well worth the read.
As for Captain Sugarbuttons, do I really want to know?

Yeah, I noted the sugarbuttons name yesterday. If you read the comments from yesterday’s link, you’ll find even more!
I look forward to a world where the idea of sacrifice goes the way of all the other excuses for dying before one’s time. Getting rid of the culture of honor killings, revenge killings, and all forms of the sacrifice of individuals, across all cultures, would be an enormous step in human evolution. If a person dies in a cause he values above his own life, that is not a sacrifice. But when someone dies on the altar of someone else’s belief and need, that is indeed a sacrifice, and you can believe that there is someone who either demands the sacrifice, or would not sacrifice his own life, who will reap whatever benefits accrue. I’m sick of the need. It always stems from the irrational, and I detest the irrational.
Sorry. Sometimes the waste just gets to me.
