Hamas: Good at Terror- History?… Not so much

Conflict Blotter held an interview with the co-founder of Hamas this week, Dr. Mahmoud Zahar. (What’s up with all of the doctors and terrorism?) Anyway, the good doctor tells Charles Levinson from Conflict Blotter:

“We believe that this is the era of change, that the coming decades will see Islamic rule in Arab countries,” he said. “I am not speaking about hopes here. I am just reading the reality. Today, even the thief, before he commits his crime, asks god to help him.”

“In a few years [Islam] can gather supreme power in the form of money, power, armies, human beings… from Morocco to Indonesia.”

“How are we going to manage the relationship between the West and Islam? If we are going to see each other as enemies we will see World War IV.

Besides the typical threats to the West and the world domination theme… What’s with the “World War IV” comment?

What ever happened to World War III?
Did we miss something?

Well, I often refer to the Cold War as WWIII, and our current conflict as WWIV. I don’t know if that is what he means or not. Arabs do seem to have a different version of history though.

“What ever happened to World War III?”

a/k/a the Cold War, We won it.

  3. Vanguard of the Commentariat Says:

Careful Robert. Half of us won it. The other half were either asleep or actively believed that being a slave to the state was no worse than we were.

  4. Donald Douglas Says:

Maybe the guy’s read Norman Podhoretz, who argues we’re in WWIV.

Anyway, the radical left will deny there’s any threat, as usual:

I thought I heard something, but I figured it was my roommate falling out of bed again.

    An interesting question.

Dr. Mohammed Asha (arrested following failed car bomb attempts in Great Britain) was described as “brilliant”.

In reading about his background, the point was made that medical training in the middle & far east doesn’t encourage inquiry and experimentation but, rather, rote adherence to the instruction.

(And of course all the other medical personnel involved in those recent plots.)

Would be a perfect foundation for the emergence of Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, Dr. Mahmood Zahar, Dr Mohammad Rasool.

Whereas the ground troops for the coming Islamic Revolution (many children) are forced to read the Koran all day.
