Where Hsu At Now?
Cross-posted from The Oxford Medievalist:
I guess Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson spoke to soon. Two days ago, Wolfson said the Clinton campaign saw no reason to return the money the fugitive Mr. Hsu had contributed to Hillary’s campaign. Obama’s chief fundraiser even - rather ironically - praised Hsu as decent and generous (I guess a fugitive swindler is “decent and generous” if he helps you win elections.) Now, Democrats are scrambling to unload thousands of dollars Hsu donated to their campaigns:
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign said yesterday that it would give to charity $23,000 it had received from a prominent Democratic donor, and review thousands of dollars more that he had raised, after learning that the authorities in California had a warrant for his arrest stemming from a 1991 fraud case. …
Al Franken, a Democratic Senate candidate in Minnesota, said he would divest his campaign of Mr. Hsu’s donations, as did Representatives Michael M. Honda and Doris O. Matsui of California and Representative Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania, all Democrats.
The blogosphere and MSM are both abuzz about Senator Craig’s bathroom exploits. Rightfully so, and, as I’ve done, I think it’s correct to criticize and condemn his behavior. But the fact that one of the biggest campaign fundraisers for Democrats is a fugitive from justice, with questions surrounding his involvement with modest families who go from no political activism to contributing in excess of $200,000 to Democrats in three years, is a much bigger and important story than Senator Craig’s bathroom weirdness. Mr. Hsu is apparently one of Clinton’s biggest fundraisers, bringing in over $1 million to her campaign. At the very least she shouldn’t be let off the hook returning only $23,000 - in effect a token payment in the hopes the story will go away. Unfortunately, I agree completely: on the brewing Mr. Hsu scandal, “Next time anyone mentions this, we’ll be told it’s old news.”

But the left side of the aisle is aghast at Sen. Craig’s hypocrisy. Oh. Never mind.

Don’t you people understand!
U.S. Secrets bartered to the Chinese, in exchange Wal*Mart is the outlet for genuine Chinese prison made goods.
Can’t get anymore fair, then that.

Like they sang on “Hee-Haw”:
Where, where, are Hsu tonight?
Why did Hsu leave me
Here all alone?
I searched the world over
Thought I found a donor
Hsu met a conviction and
-Bfpft-
Hsu was gone.

Can someone explain to me how this clown was allowed to do all this while a warrant was hanging over his head? He obviously wasn’t hiding; why didn’t the NYPD scoop him up and ship his butt back to Cali? Criminals (even mere suspects in felony cases) are regularly extradited from one state to another, so why not this guy?
