Put a Lid On It
Another great 9/11 speech, this one from Deval Patrick, governor of our own great Commonwealth of Massachusetts:
“Among many other things, 9/11 was a failure of human understanding,” Patrick said. “It was a mean and nasty and bitter attack on the United States. But it was also a failure of human beings to understand each other, to learn to love each other.”
Our failure to understand we needed to convert to Islam and kneel to the Caliphate. Our failure to understand, 28 years ago and a number of times since, that you don’t take crap from two-bit mullahs. Osama’s failure to understand that wasn’t going to happen, and he was going to spend the rest of his life, however long that might be, in a cave. Maybe Deval’s on to something here. It was a failure to understand.
My employer, the Boston Herald, because it is a serious tabloid newspaper, sometimes attempts to convey critical information in subtle ways, by putting hats on political figures on the front page, among other evocative imagery. Romney got a Commie kepi. He also got an Elmer Fudd hat, but I can’t find the image. Boston Mayor Tom Menino got steam coming out of his ears. Massachusetts House Speaker Tom Finneran got a crown. Patrick has had a party hat, and if I’m not wrong, a dunce cap. Not sure about that one. Sometimes, as events play out, we might discuss this matter of hats. “That guy should watch out. He might wake up with a hat on.” We might even discuss what kind of hat would be appropriate to a given pol in a given situation. It’s happened. Of course, this is serious business, and we don’t go handing out hats lightly. After all, you really aren’t a power player around here until the Herald puts a hat on you.
Patrick’s not on the front page with this lame speech. Any thoughts on what kind of hat it would get if he was?

Guess there’s no such thing as a cum-by-yah hat. Maybe a nice basket of fruit ala Carmen Miranda …. or was that Josephine Baker? Regarless … it should be pink and flowery as well as fruited.

I would suggest a novelty dog poo, but I suspect I’m too lowbrow for the hat exercise.

Astounding Ignorance
Pardon me if I view our struggle with radical Islam as one of life and death gravity and not like that of a high school school clique. Islamic terrorists have slaughtered thousands of innocent people worldwide in the hopes of creating a new Caliphate a…

Jules,
I’d suggest you put a Yankees ball cap on him. That would, I believe properly show off his cluelessness.
Respects,

I’m thinking of a hippie headband, which wouldn’t be complete without some beads around his neck.

Two ideas, Jules: a beret, or a beanie. But to capture liberal surrender theology with Patrick’s unique cluelessness, I suggest a beret with a propeller on top.
But I like the Yankee lid, too.

I’d suggest an a$$hat, but even tabloids have their standards.

OK, what am I missing? What is it about (it seems like) half of us who are quite willing to accept blame for this and go back to sleep? Or is it just key people like this moron who got to where they are because they spout politically correct platitudes and have access to a microphone? Because I have been hearing this “we suck” and “why do they hate us” crap for 6 years now (actually heard it well before, but it was largely confined to academia) and I just don’t get it.

May I suggest this Peace Hat? It’s perfect for the multiculti “understanding” crowd.
Note that it’s designed by someone called Braindead_Romantik.

Any governor or politician or whomever who thinks he’s “leading the herd” these days with sundry official pontifications….
…needs a deep and high level reality check.
(so can michael steele become governator of Massachusetts ? just kidding, but I really like that guy)

RebeccaH, put a propeller on that Peace hat and it gets my vote. (It gave me a pretty good laugh, too, which I really need.)
Anyone who hasn’t gotten it by now isn’t going to suddenly wake up.

I suggest a burka. Since he wants to bend over backwards to “understand”, he should be caricatured trying to understand what it is like to wear one.
