9/11 Revenge Fantasies

No, not the kind that 9/11 survivors, their families and fellow citizens might have.  The kind some Euros and other ostensibly civilized people had when we were attacked.

Jens Blauenfeldt of Danmarks Radio, remembering his 9/11 reaction:

“Hey, it’s the Americans; now they are getting spanked. That serves them right … finally someone is striking back.”

Talk about something rotten in Denmark. Tim Blair, earlier this week, with some other bastards, Australian media types who had the good sense to limit themselves to private smirks.

I’m trying to remember what we did to the Danes to make them feel that way, other than get them their country back from the Germans in pretty good shape, thanks to Denmark’s humiliating capitulation. People hate it when you do that. Then, we stood athwart the Russkies’ path for 45 years.  Sixty-two years, if you consider that we’re still there and so are the Russkies.  History shows us people often don’t appreciate that much, either.  But it may be Euro-rage over our only partially successful efforts to keep Asia from being overrun by Communists. The Danes do a lot of business in the part we kept free. I’m not sure how they do in the other part. I’m going to guess they do OK there, too.

Then there’s the Coca-Cola and the McDonalds. The heinousness of our unspeakable cultural imperialism cannot be overlooked.

Anyway, Blauenfeldt’s remarks on behalf of Denmark’s official broadcasting agency places that Dane squarely on the side of the embassy burners.  Euro-notions of being morally aloof in the world notwithstanding, I believe American notions of with-us-or-against-us suggest that this one, and those who employ him, are against us.  It’s kind of odd, given that Denmark is officially with us, in some nominal way, in this war on terrorism, and has been struck by relatively mild Islamo-terrorism itself.

Under some people’s rules, this would be embassy-burning, hostage-taking time. Under other people’s prevailing radio outrage rules, Blauenfeldt should be publicly castigated and picketed by Al Sharpton, then fired. As a believer in free speech, I’m not sure I can support that. What the Danes do with their murder-applauding announcer is their business.  Whether Americans buy their cheese or not is our business. If Blauenfeldt represents the Danish government’s view, by all means they should keep him.  However, surely they should know how we feel.

Hmmm, so many options … burn embassy and start sawing heads off; badger into submission with accusations of racism; stop eating Danish cheese and launch letter-writing campaign… what would a civilized people do?  Hard to know when you are a barbaric American. Which reminds me. I forgot one. Smart bomb on Danmarks Radio’s headquarters in downtown Copenhagen.  You know, given our history of purposefully murdering journalists.

I can’t remember the last time I bought anything Danish, anyway. I think I’ll just mock them.

Here’s the Danish Embassy’s address and contact information if you have any other ideas:

UPDATE:  Here’s a 9/11 fan closer to home. Under Corndog rules,  all neo-cons must now dream of bombing Kent State. Gentlemen, synchronize your watches. Commence drooling bloodthirstily … now!

One of the funniest and most pathetic things about conservatives is the way they love to feel that everyone hates them.

Here is Denmark, which the country’s Liberal Party said, ” The Danish Government has consistently supported the legitimacy and the necessity of taking action against Saddam Hussein. This was clearly the right and only thing to do and history will prove we were right.”

And all it takes is one radio jock to say something neandercons don’t like, and they start wondering “what we did to the Danes to make them feel that way” sizing it all up to “Eurorage,” and start dreaming about dropping bombs.

Anyway, it’s breakfast time. I think I’ll go out and get a Danish.

I’m pretty sure the vast majority of Danes are with us. I’m stationed next door in Germany and haven’t heard anything but support coming out of Denmark. I’m willing to bet this guy is just a mouth-breathing leftist blowhard solo artist. You know the type. Its funny and rather pathetic how they hate everyone.

  3. Vanguard of the Commentariat Says:

I suppose that’s fair enough ‘dog. But contrast it to the lib’s who, when they think about anything at all besides increasing their own entitlements at somebody else’s expense, generally want the “world” to love us (if only we had the right guy in charge!), and in fact they usually say the rest of the world is better than us (even though they wouldn’t consider moving!).

And in keeping with their dominant line of thinking, they have to buy that love in the form of vast giveaways of somebody else’s money while apologizing for slavery, Wounded Knee and the exploitation of labor.

Coke and McDonald’s are the easiest forms of cultural “imperialism” to resist. Just don’t buy it.

ALL of the Danes I worked with at Maersk on 9/11 were (and as best I can tell, still are) supporters of the US. Don’t paint with too broad a brush. Lots of Danes have brains.

Then again, these are the most successfully capitalist Danes. The joke around the office was that AP Moller’s capitalist success (Maersk’s parent - who employs more Danes that the Danish government) allows Danish socialism. Lots of ‘em stayed here in the States as long as possible.

But if you’ve bought anything from Target, Wal-Mart, or anything made in China, part of your dough went to Maersk and the Danes.

  5. The_Real_JeffS Says:

That’s probably the case, TB. And the same is true for Australians. But that doesn’t mean we can’t target the known mouth-breathing leftist blowhard solo artists with our ire when they open their pieholes on public broadcast networks. .

  6. Texas Bob Says:

I with you TRJS. And same goes for the mouth-breathing leftist blowhard solo artists on conservative blogs as well.

  7. corndog Says:

No, Jeffy, the Australians are showing some of that socialist, pro-al Qaeda “Euro-rage” you guys love so well. But stay away from the bombs, please:

“AUSTRALIANS are more hostile than ever towards the United States and view China’s global influence more favourably than that of Canberra’s key ally, a new global poll has found.

In interviews conducted between last October and January, only 29 per cent of Australians had a “mainly positive” attitude towards the US, while 60 per cent were “mainly negative” and 11 per cent undecided. This is down on last year, when 40 per cent of Australians were positive about the US.”

  8. The_Real_JeffS Says:

Ah, another poll! Thank you, corndog.

Did I ever mention that I consider any poll conducted for any reason to be pretty much worthless, unless they present the full data associated with it? Questions, demographics, and so on? And then I get to read the full report, not just the pablum offered to the public in popular articles and sound bites?

I should also note that leftie polls appear to be far more dishonest than any other kind? Not every time, mind you, but often enough that I view them with a jaundiced eye.

    Just so y’know.

  10. RebeccaH Says:

Lots of people in the world hate us… until they need us for something. When the world stops voting with its feet, then I’ll worry about how they feel about us.

  11. tanstaafl Says:

Near as I can tell, Britain and Denmark top the lists for Islamic takeover in Europe.

The fact of the cartoons carried around the Middle East by that very vociferous Danish Imam was no accident.

And in the ensuing “riots” part of the demand (as the flag burners were stomping on the Danish flag) was for a boycott of Danish goods worldwide, including the more or less famous Danish hams.

Economic collapse (see why jihadists want to disrupt the flow of oil) is part of the plan.

And all kinds of events (except more, especially Great Britain) that look like disparate and random acts of “outrage” and “humiliation” are orchestrated.

Denmark (and its radio announcers) better watch their backs.

  12. tanstaafl Says:

If so many “people” hate the US so much, I sure wish they’d stop trying to immigrate into here in such large numbers (legally AND illegally)

And the election of much more US friendly governments in France and Germany is certainly another indication of all that “hate” , uh huh, for sure.

And yeah, “polls” are generally dumb.

Also, I’d (personally) like to know what percentage point differences in American public opinion on “Iraq” should matter to the direction of American foreign policy.

  13. saltydog Says:

Attempting to govern by consensus is folly and our Founding Fathers knew it–stating correctly that the tyranny of the mob is still tyranny. This is why they despised democracy and said so in no uncertain terms, and then proceeded to institute a constitutionally limited republic, with said constitution written to protect the individual from the mob, and all people from the government. The fact that we’ve either ignored or all but lost their understanding has put us on the road to perdition.

I don’t worry about a Danish loudmouth anymore than I worry about our own multitudes. They do no more than regurgitate whole what they’ve been fed, without digesting a morsel.

  14. Terrye Says:

I do wish lefties would make up their minds. They are either complaining that everyone hates us or they are complaining that the right says a lot of people hate us.

And I doubt if the Australians changed in their opinions about Americans all that much in a year. Or a decade for that matter.

As for the Danes, the few I have ever met were very nice people.

  15. Dave Surls Says:

“One of the funniest and most pathetic things about conservatives is the way they love to feel that everyone hates them.”

Yeah, right. It’s the leftys who are always moaning and crying about how no one loves us. Guys like me could care less what some retard in Denmark thinks,

There is one practical issue, however, the liberal halfwits in this country committed the United States to a defensive alliance (\that never has, and never will be in the best interests of our country, IMO) with a slew of nations in Europe, including Denmark.

If the opinion of Blauenfeldt is the opinion of a majority of the citizenry in Dernmark, then obviously the defensive alliance is worse than useless. You don’t want to be allied with a democratic nation where a majority of the voters are glad that you’ve been attacked, for reasons I think need no explanation.

Other than that, who gives a crap what a bunch of assholes in Europe think?

    Not me.

  16. Dave Surls Says:

“I’m trying to remember what we did to the Danes to make them feel that way…”

We defeated all their enemies for them, but now we’re not going home.

    That’s all it is.
