Impeach Him Now!
This lefty Bush reax deserves special mention. “Scarecrow” at “Firedoglake.” What the heck is a Firedoglake, anyway? Sounds very empowered. Anyway:
How should Congress respond to a President who, while giving lip service to the hope for national unity behind his fantasies, holds them in contempt, ignores their concerns and the disapproval of a large majority of the American people?
…
No one mentioned that impeachment is and always has been the logical remedy for an out of control President.
Hold on. Self-answering indignation:
Almost no one believes impeachment would be successful in removing the regime from office …
I’ll give this scarecrow his or her due. What is the gender of scarecrows? More of an it. Anyway, this one at least is demanding a pointless fight, rather than the gutless milling around of the surrender camp. There’s a certain cornfield logic here. If you can’t muster the votes to surrender, then you might as well go ahead and not muster the votes to impeach.
With brain of straw, Scarecrow noodles it out:
The effort itself would be worthwhile; it might cause the regime to modify its policies, though that seems unlikely now with this regime, if only because Congress refuses to take its prerogatives seriously. But even if the effort fell short, it would reflect well on those who tried; it would give their followers a worthwhile cause; it would educate Americans on what is at stake and define who stands for the Constitution, and who does not. It would frame the next election on the issues most vital to the nation. Why should we shrink from that battle?
Whatever the outcome, the effort could also help preserve and encourage the impeachment remedy’s future use by those who follow and may need this cure again. Preserving the efficacy of impeachment is important in itself. Ignoring impeachable offenses and doing nothing are inexcusable.
To the angry, frustrated Democrats I say: You have nothing left to lose except the Constitution and respect, ours and your own. Stop whining. Use it, or shut up.
I actually agree with quite a bit of that. The “stop whining” and “shut up” parts in particular. The “You have nothing left to lose except … respect, ours and your own,” I have to say, that battle’s over. Never mind. I thought scarecrows shied away from playing with fire, and I applaud this one for calling it in on his own vegetable patch. Burlap Face is onto something here. What the electorate wants is a pointless impeachment battle. Do it now! For the sake of the 2008 election. For America’s future. Reveal the crimes of the regime!

Well, I must agree with the straw man, as holding Congress in contempt is easily done. Especially since Pelosi and Reid took up the reins.
And the effort not to muster impeachment votes fits perfectly with what the anti-war crowd practices (their preaching, of course, dances around this gem of wisdom): “Whatever we do must be meaningless, else it has no meaning!”

Prevent another bloody revolution
Ah, the irony! The anti-war types threatening civil war.
Unless “hippietreehuger” is a nom de plum for someone pointing out the irony, of course. Or just a leftie who can’t spell.

For that matter, it’s too bad that Billy Jeff never accepted the concept of withdrawal either.

But even if the effort fell short, it would reflect well on those who tried;
I believe this is the money quote. The attitude seems to be: “Do something, even if it accomplishes nothing useful and is ultimately meaningless, because it will make us look good”. The narcissism of the left is boundless.

I must admit, I’ve sometimes wondered if we are headed towards another civil war cum revolution, which might not be so bad if we are talking about jettisoning the multiple layers of collectivist, subjective laws that have been heaped upon us in spite of the Constitution, and reinstate the concept of the individual as the fundamental social value. The question is whether the left, supposedly anti-war, bunch would come. For all of their anti-war rhetoric, many don’t seem to really mind violence. The left has never really minded violence when it suited them–and history shows just how much it suits them.

So, let’s sum up the argument(s) for impeachment then (first comment BTW):
1) “it would educate Americans on what is at stake and define who stands for the Constitution, and who does not. It would frame the next election on the issues most vital to the nation.”
Translation: It will help us win the next election
2) “Whatever the outcome, the effort could also help preserve and encourage the impeachment remedy’s future use by those who follow and may need this cure again.”
Translation: It will set a precedent. We’ll be able to use impeachment again next time we have a president we simply don’t like.
Pathetic, dangerous bunch.

Howdy, gtiness! Welcome aboard. And nice translations!
saltydog:
For all of their anti-war rhetoric, many don’t seem to really mind violence.
I think most of them love violence, since they are willing to overlook or forgive the violent people sharing similar goals.

Can we start shooting yet? No?
Wake me when it’s time. I’ll be sleeping out underneath the non-hippy USMC flag pole dreaming about the time that I punched the disk because of poor butt service.

I’m not a psychiatrist, but what is interesting about these anti-war types is that they exhibit the following whenever they open their mouths or pick up the day-glo stickers from the printers:
1. Malignant narcissism.
2. Moral vanity.
3. Self-indulgent guilt.
4. Self-indulgent rage.
5. Insecurity.
6. Fear of rejection.
7. Projection of fears to real or imagined objects.
8. Pressure to conform.
I would also estimate that 98% of the anti-war groups are rich white people from the suburbs, with plenty of money to burn and lots of guilt to burden them. The poor and people of color that march around with signs operated by the most totalitarian of groups; they use poverty and race as selling points, but once these people get wind that the march was more for publicity than for “social justice,” their once-friendly handlers will tell them to vamoose in harsher terms.

They want to impeach the President for defending the country after it was attacked and a war forced on us? They want to do this during a presidential election while a bunch of their candidates are desperately trying to bamboozle the voters into thinking that there is no war and thus the Democrtic Party’s eternal incompetence at security affairs and their defeatism are now irrelevant? Riiiight. That must be what lefties consider politcal genius.
As for violence the left doesn’t object to it at all, it only objects to using violence by the USA, Israel, or other civilized countries for their defense against the violence of the lefties’ pals. They actually romanticize violence, and the greater the body count the more they romanticize the killers. That’s why Castro and Che Guevara are such perennial heroes to them. Even those who clain to be pacifists, like the American Friends Service Committee, are copacetic with violence, so long as it is left wing fanatics or Muslims doing the killing. I’ve heard them justifying Commie murder. It’s freedom they hate.

“Prevent another bloody revolution”
Sure. The leftys are going to revolt against the government that issues their welfare checks.
Not.
