Why They Hate Us Again
I thought I was already pretty clear on the subject, but apparently AQ feels the need to belabor the point. New vid from Blackbeard to ”present reasons, motives for attacks on New York, Washington.”
My prediction:
OBL:
Blah blah blah pork-eating infidels. Blah blah blah filthy boots on sacred sand. Blah blah blah Iraq … no, scratch that … blah blah blah Caliphate. Blah blah blah Allahu Akhbar peace be upon you.
I may have missed a couple of points.
Riehl points out Ossie could have tried for a summer release, but probably didn’t want the competition with American Pie VI, or whatever they’re up to. Gateway is curious about whether this will pull the bottom out of the Truther market, but suspects Truther futures are solid.
Here’s Mideast Online:
WASHINGTON - Al-Qaeda will release a third video marking the sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, this time showing its top leader in Afghanistan, US monitoring groups said Wednesday.
After releasing two videos featuring Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in recent days, the terror network will now show a video “presenting reasons and motives for the attacks on New York and Washington,” the SITE Intelligence Group said in a press release.
The new video will show Al-Qaeda’s chief in Afghanistan, Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid, also known as Sheikh Said, said SITE, which monitors extremist websites.
The tape also features a montage of images showing the burning World Trade Center towers in New York and individuals such as Saudi King Abdullah, SITE said.
Another US-based monitoring group, IntelCenter, said it expected the video to be released by Al-Qaeda within 72 hours.
IntelCenter said the new video’s upcoming release was announced by Al-Qaeda’s media arm, As-Sahab.
Al-Qaeda released videos featuring Bin Laden on Friday and Tuesday, on the sixth anniversary of the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in the United States.
I guess my only other comment is that their timing is a little screwy. 9/11 was four days ago. We don’t have the 12 Days of 9/11. It comes once a year. They’re really stringing this lecture series out. Are they planning on keeping it up all Ramadan?
If so, they may want to think about cranking up the entertainment factor a little, because the prime 18-24 Jihadi demographic has a pretty short attention span and is pretty demanding. Thanks to Hollywood.* What’s the most popular show in the Arab world? the Arab version of Idol, out of Lebanon. I realize these guys are in a cave somewhere, doing the best they can. But it might be time to move from that antiquated Walter Cronkhite/BBC TV news format, and try some Simon al-Cowell. Jihadi Idol. Something like that. The Caliphate’s Most Islamic Jihadi Videos. Survivor: Jihad. Big Imam. Whatever. Who Wants to be Shaheed?
* Crusader-Zionist plot.

Most likely there’s some frustration back in Jihad HQ, that the ratings haven’t been very good and people persist in believing that OBL is dead. But hey, that’s showbiz.

AQ probably doesn’t want to be outdone by those Loose Change idiots.

Everybody wants credit. Perhaps they all ought to meet before the bar and let the court decide responsibility; for Al Qaeda, Ramsey Clark, for the even more insane, Rosie O’Donnell (assuming the court will accept briefs written in haiku).

He’s probably just trying to get a few demo tapes out there because Pilot season in Los Angeles is approaching.
Now that Jihad is dying off, it’s time for a career change. Hollywood would love him, and he wouldn’t even have to play the part of a terrorist since in the movie biz it’s always Neo-Nazis or Russian separatists.
He may get type cast as the Muslim with a heart who is always mistaken for a bad guy though.

I do sometimes wonder what OBL or Zawahiri think when they see or read that large segments of the West believe that they didn’t engineer 9/11.
Do they see it as a Zionist plot created to weaken them? To take away a great victory over the Great Satan?
My guess is that they view it as a CIA plot to do just that. To manipulate the public into viewing 9/11 as not being undertaken by Muslims.
Alex Jones and the Truthers, then - from this perspective - are really CIA and Mossad agents.
Oy, what a world. Trotsky once said that if one wanted to live a quiet life that one picked the wrong century in which to be born.
Twentieth-first century same as the twentieth.

SMG, it were ever so. People are people, no matter the century.
It is a satisfying idea that the truthers are really CIA and Mossad agents bent on taking away the “glory” that rightly belongs to the cave dwellers. I think I’ll start passing that little gem around. Anyone care to conspire with me to do so?
Heh, heh, heh.

It does seem to get a little redundant, the proliferation of tapes. It could seem like an attempt at perpetual feasting on shards of past “glory”.
Shouldn’t there have been just one anniversary tape that definitively spelled out all those (lame) justifications as to how and why a bunch of marginal individuals hatched a plot to hijack airplanes and drive them into buildings ?
“Blackbeard”
Robert Spencer (jihadwatch) said there was jihadi significance (that Muslims would recognize) to the blackening of the beard, as in, preparation for battle or something.
I’m not a devotee of RS, but I thought it an interesting point and a fuller, blacker beard IS a sign that the individual is younger & more virile than he may be.

Of course, it helps if you aren’t sitting there inanimate most of the time. Think Eva Peron or Vladimir Lenin.

If we kill everyone in Al Qaida, then we won’t have to worry about their likes and dislikes.
Just another reason to support the idea of exterminating the vermin.

Here is Imam Ali (reputedly Mohammed’s son in law) on “the beard”
#16
Besides the reference to “the Jews”, Imam Ali (revered by Shi’ites and respected by Sunnis) sounds quite wise in a Lao-tsu kind of way.
Nothing about being commanded by Allah to slaughter the infidel or (if you let him live) keeping him around to pay jizya, the tax on infidels.

Sorry to be late to the party. :(
Saltydog: “Rosie O’Donnell (assuming the court will accept briefs written in haiku).”
In her case the briefs will be written in hai-kookoo drenched in Hai-Karate.

DOH! Tab means Submit I guess.

I think the new OBL video might be a Pakistani re-make of “Weekend at Bernie’s”. Didn’t he look sooo natural?
