Saturday Night Laugh

They’re turning on each other.  Jane Hamsher at Firedoglake (can someone please tell what the heck a firedoglake is, anyway?  Some kind of warmed-over eastern mysticism? Secret wimmin’s business? It’s got to be something important.) wants Elizabeth Edwards to lay off MoveOn.  

Turns out it’s possible to fingerwag, handwring and defiantly fistshake all at once.  Dripping with unintended irony, a fun read. I like this part:

They’re out there on the left so you can look “moderate.” They’re saying what needs to be said, opening the conversation up so John Edwards isn’t considered the left-wing fringe loon that nobody should listen to.

Too late!  But the mercenary realpolitik reflected in that remark is interesting. 

Here’s another good one. Glenn Greenwald warms up some leftover chickenhawk. Greenwald of course is not allowed to discuss the war either, as his exhaustive self-congratography suggests that while he has written a number of instant bestsellers and performed some astonishing acts of legal dexterity and current affairs expertitude, he has yet to fulfill his human shield duty.

   Your comment is on level of a five-year-old saying “my dad can beat up your dad!” Jules was making fun of Greenwald’s exalted view of himself based on writing a book, and you played right into it.

   I find they stack quite well - pile up 10 of them, bind with string and shellac and you got a nice foot stool. I get’em at the dollar store for a buck. I got an Al Gore foot stool, a Hillary foot stool, and a Nixon foot stool so far.

   Nope, I am not Greenwald. I just think that Jules, Danielle, and David are three of the stupidest human being on the planet. Greenwald would not say that.

   I was just pointing out that Glenn Greenwald has assembled cogent arguments both in his blog and in actual book form. Jules cannot even do that on a blog. Personally, I suspect Jules of being an RNC sock puppet. There seems to be one of those in every city newspaper.

   FWIW, I am actually more liberal than Greenwald. I expect my registration here to be turned off fairly soon, but for a while, I thought I do what comes naturally to some of you righties: troll a bit.

   Jules speaks the truth. Last week I dissented on some lefty blogs and they shut me down within three posts. Over here, I can go on and on and on. And, as I’m sure others here will say, I do just that.

    Irony indeed. So Hamsher admits in print that those saying “what needs to be said” are leftwing fringe loons that nobody should listen to. Way to defend your position, girl.

    Firedog: a device used to keep logs or food off of the floor for increased heat or air circulation. Used in pairs.

    Lake: a body of water.

    Firedog lake: an oxymoronic dissimilitude.

    I see that hypocritical twat Greenwald is ranting and raving about the idea of calling for volunteers, and also his usual favorite subject: chickenhawkery.

    Calling for volunteers isn’t an issue for liberal Democrats (Like Gtreenwald and the people he whores for), because when they want to fight a war they just start drafting people into the military, as they did in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

    Needless to say, the liberals two great war leaders, Woody Wilson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt never saw fit to volunteer for military service themselves, though they did see fit to force millions of other young men into the service and get hundreds of thousands of them killed without going through the formality of asking for volunteers.

    And, of course we all know about Bill Clinton. He openly and flatly refused to subject himself to the military conscription system his political party created, but then happily signed a new conscription law once he was POTUS…like the utter complete total scumbag that he, and virtually all liberals are.

    Personally, I agree with Greenwald’s general complaint, and it’s one of many reasons I would never vote for a scumbag liberal Democrat.

    I was recently invited to view Glenn Greenwald on tape spitting out a roughtly 6 minute (pre-prepared) read and had to abandon the endeavoUr after about 1 minute.

    The nasally voice and the obvious self- important contrivance made the speech un-listenable.
